This is a great topic! I have the drawer/platform done but need to figure out a head liner also. How well would the carpet from the canopy manufacturer insulate? It has got to be better then nothing right?

from what i've read, it only absorbs the condensation so you can't see what's really going on. i think the headliner material is all synthetic, with the idea that you can take a hose to it once in a while. granted, it probably offers a little sound and temperature buffering, but i would hesitate to call that "insulation"

that's the plan. and then cover it with paneling
Put a reflective layer on the inside of the foam. It will help allot in retaining heat.

Also consider the reflective bubble insulation. It too can be glued up to the inside of the shell, and it is very light.

The ARE on my current truck has the factory carpet lining. It probably helps a little, but my truck and shell are black so that, coupled with the windows, and it's going to take a lot more insulation. It does help with the noise though and condensations isn't an issue with it.
