Shocks, Valving, and other confusing items

The fly in that ointment is that leaf springs have internal friction that acts as a "self-damper." Coils & T-bars lack this 'feature' which results in their needing higher damping rates. T-bars in particular can be a headache due to their high rate of rising rate. Don't think that matters here, but I thot I'd point that out for future ref.

My front shocks are 20/90. They are a massive improvment over the stock shocks...but could still be better. Particularly, I wish I would have gotton the low speed damping adjustment (another $60 per shock). I don't think I will ever be able to achieve the plush ride that the baja-mobile has, considering the wheelbase difference and the fact that I run a short-arm lift with a strait axle....but they made such a difference that I am going to spend the $400 and get a pair for the rear too....

I suggest you talk with Mr. Baja and have a chat with him to find out how he achieved such stellar results, then try to duplicate his efforts with your rig.

Do you know what the valving is on your shocks? Or is it top secret?
Yes, 255/70 valving for my Taco's rear shocks. The front is SAW's. The thread on determining which shocks to buy might help enlighten the window more on selection research.

Have you had shocks tuned to your vehicle requirements?
Nope. The Bil's on there for now are a temporary fix (Scott's old shocks).

Appropriate to weight and anticipated usage? Or did you simply buy a shock of the correct length and off-the-shelf valving, and called it good?
Still in research phase for the rear shocks. I will have to wait to determine the total rear weight once all the mods are done in the rear.

No clue, but since they are Scott's old shocks I am sure they are pretty close.

We just picked up Walker Evans Racing product line, and I plan on switching the rear on over to WE once I get everything all lined up for the rear.
