Shocks

Okay I am going to be replacing my shocks and springs here in the future. I will starting with the shocks, I have been doing research and I am not sure what to do nothing is showing for the Sports that you guys use. I was wondering what you guys have for mounts. The rear on the Sports are eyelet top and bottom. And the front is standard stud and bolt combo. So any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like something medium duty as the sport gets bouncy with to strong of a shock.

I have the KYB's on mine; I can pull the part numbers off of them if you need 'em. Just say the word. I'll post up tomorrow after daylight (probably mid-day).

Try this http://www.rockauto.com/ and learn to search a bit better.

Yes they have shocks, no they don't have Gas a Just for the Sports and from every post I have read here and on the wire plus the Sport forum the Monroe are inferior products. I wanted medium duty since I camp with a good bit of gear and the factory shocks/ spring combo is rather weak on the sports.

Oops...I originally posted for full sized montero, but you have a sport (might want to put that in your signature)...from KYB's online catalog, it appear that gas-a-just or monomax don't fit sports, but their excel-g fits. KYB Part numbers 344294 front and 344295 rear.

Gah!! Where did my sig go! Thanks for pointing out that my sig is gone. Lol it was there, don't know what happened. Yeah I saw those, I am trying to avoid the OE because from what I have found out on the Sport forum is that for every unbelievable awesome feature on the Monts and Sports, they didn't upgrade the shocks and springs on the Sports from the L200/Triton platform. So they are really soft when loaded with gear. I will get them if it is my only choice.

Well I did look at the options for the Full size Montero are stud top for the rear. So they won't work for the Sport... I have bushing eyelet for the top in the Rear. So I am still waiting for word from KYB. I will be looking at travel distances of shocks from other vehicles and see what matches maybe I can make something out of nothing.

Pretty sure you own a measuring tape, get out there and measure the length you need by measuring the compressed and extended length you require, then simply go here to find the part number for the length and the order wherever is cheapest http://www.seriousoffroadproducts.c...=87822&zenid=32fb90a53b59b65eacd87d1c74f4dffe

I appreciate the help JnP if I find the time to do all that I will. As it is I don’t get much time right now to crawl around under my rig. So here and the internet is the best I can do for my information.

Mud runner,

try contacting KYB tech support and asking them what best fits. Although they may not have an exact fit shock, they may have one that still fits.

For example when many of us gen 1 v6 Montero owners added longer rear coil springs and removed the stock anti-sway bars from the rear, it afforded us a taller ride height and more travel which required different shocks than the OEM setup.

KYB tech support was more than willing to go through their own shock inventory to determine what would fit. Although it wasn't a direct fit, the shocks they found could be made to fit with just minor modifications we could make to the shock prior to installation.

Thanks O-R I have contacted them but I think I sent the Email to sales not tech. I will do that over the weekend and see what they say.
