Short-Long Arm/Equal Length Arm Suspension design

Wouldn't that bent axle require a clearance area to be made in the floor of the trailer?

Need to look into this GM 63 thing.

Hmmm...

6 pages from Google, mostly by NTSQD... ;)

Maybe this is the solution for my trailer. I've been thinking about doing a long-arm trailing arm suspension like on my truck, with coils or air. But this 63" thing looks simpler. What height is the profile of the leaves? I would have to figure out if I could go SUA and get the total height I need. I don't know how many leaves I'd need, trailer is going to run 2-3000lbs.

Would a setup like this need any lateral locating link?

Not necessarily, I saw a live axle built like this in a picture posted here some time ago. It was a custom, not a dropped axle upside down, though that has been done too. This raised center was inboard of the spring perches so there were no unusual brake torque loads on the springs like when flipping a dropped axle.

obviously there are ways to around the issue and that's why in my post
i said "more ground clearance usually means a higher COG". that axle is
great way around this issue but how many people are doing something
like vs just jacking there trailers up? i thought my comment was rather
innocuous and was directed towards what i see people actually doing
not what people could theoretically do. IMHO the most important things
to consider if you going to run a trailer through technical terrain is COG
and minimizing off-tracking but i'm obviously ill informed. i certainly have
no problem with returning to a role as lurker and not a poster so as to not
disturb the experts with my highly inflammatory remarks... :D
