Shovel / Axe Mount

Any recommendations on mounts to hold a shovel and axe? Probably going to fasten it to a Molle panel on an offroad camper.

Locking is necessary.

Thanks!

I wish I could remember the brand name of this one. It's been bouncing around on the back of my 60 for 20 years so it works really well. They're still available.

Since my shovel is part of my firefighting gear, I prefer to leave it in quickfists without a lock, so that I can grab it whenever needed. As such, I just make sure I can afford to have the shovel stolen. So far my $20 big box store special has gone unmolested.

Kinda hard to see in the picture but, I simply drilled holes in the handle of my axe and shovel ran bolts through and tightened with butterfly nuts. On one of the bolts for the shovel I drilled a hole and use a small lock. You do have to take the shovel off to get to the axe but, I use these tools for camping and not so much for recovery so, not a big deal for me. The shovel also helps keep the axe bit covered.

I mounted my shovel and axe to to the tongue box on my trailer. The axe is locked to the box with a keyed bike lock. I drilled a 3/8" hole in the handle and the lock passes though it into a uni-strut 3/8" thread anchor plate. The shovel is secured by a pair of medical cart clamps I found at a surplus outlet. Quick grips would work fine. The shovel handle is looped to the bike lock by a cable I made.

I'm having trouble attaching a link for some reason. The lock can be found by going to Amazon and typing in ... Sportrack SR0018 Hitch Rack Locking Knob.

I have an Aluminess one I got many years ago. It works quite well and it locks the tools in place.

The best one I've ever had, or seen, was an older Aluminess one. NLA since they changed to a different shovel that they now want to sell with it. I really wish i could still get the old one. I wish even more that I would've kept mine when I sold the vehicle it was on.
