Those came with my Defender when I bought it and I do like them allot but I need to remove stuff from the center to access the lower storage. They bolt on real quick and with the roll cage installed in the back with steel mesh cannot be tampered with.

First, remove the rear and second row seats for additional space. If you are thinking of sleeping inside, you now have slightly over six feet of space for doing that.

You can build a plywood floor at seat bench height that covers the rear interior space for sleeping. Storage can be slide out drawers below the sheet of plywood. Build a chuckwagon box that is big enough for your camp stove plus other kitchen stuff. One that opens about 90 degrees that has hooks allowing it to be suspended from the roof gutter and hand gown the side of your truck when in use. It can give you a nice stand up outside kitchen that could stow under the platform. Add a side awning and your kitchen could be protected.

Scare up a pair of the LR optional front bumper jerry can holders. I think someone is reproducing them. You can store 40L of drinking water on your front bumper. If you have the spare tyre on the back you can get one of those black bag solar showers and strap it to your bonnet to heat up while you are driving and have a hot shower when you stop for the night.

There is enough space between the top of the back door and roof to place a cabinet that would be excellent for rolled up maps. I use mine as a tea cabinet.

You will want to figure out and build a secure hidden storage area for things you do not want anyone to take. It should not be anyplace an experienced thief would look (Series Land Rovers have a few such spaces) and you don't access it when anyone is around and you never tell anyone where it is.

There are LOTs of different possibilities for setting up a Series rig. I've only suggested one. Hang around your truck and just imagine possibilities.

We made a storage system in the rear. You could still sleep inside but it was tight. If doing it again we would have made it a couple inches lower.

Here is how it worked. The rear drawers were straight forward. With storage on the side, partitioned for spares on the bottom of the side storage bins. Water was in 2 tanks one in the rear quarter, and another behind the rear seat, the pump and filter was also there.
We kept the rear 2/3 seat. The was for visitors and so we had a place to sit and chill. We mad a table the fit over the front passenger seat if if the seat was laying flat. we could then hang out in the back seat, have access to the fridge and cook in side when weather was bad. The drawers and side storage made enough room for all cooking, food, clothes, spare parts and some climbing gear. We stored the tools under the rear seat good for weight forward). The only things we had on the roof were some bulky light climbing stuff and the roof tent.

That same table for hanging out was used as a foot board to cover the top of the rear seat so that you could sleep inside on top of the drawer system (hope this makes sense). this was done with simple brackets and gravity.

Having a place to hang out inside was more important than we ever expected. Not only when weather was bad, but when in a city and trying to just park and camp, you cant set up the tent and you cant cook out of the back.

We also had a ton of stuff for climbing, this made storage a major issue.

BTW I love this forum and since I'm settled again I'll be involved more:coffeedrink:

cheers!
