FedEx dropped off some 255/85r16's for me yesterday... I'm pretty excited to get them on. Not sure what I want to do suspension-wise, but I guess I better make up my mind sooner rather than later...

Hey, I can finally post something worth sharing in this thread! This is the War Wagon, my '05 Tundra AC.

I call these types of photos "selfies for my truck."

All that work and money ain't worth spit unless I use the rig the way it was intended to be used.

Woohoo 1st gen Tundras!
Is that still the 5100s and the OME springs? Would you recommend that over the 5100s with the stock springs? Did you do anything in the rear? Was gonna lift the rear with an AAL.

Sure is. Got the 5100's on all four corners and OME 886 springs. IMO, the spring rate on the 886's is a touch high. If you hit a dip a little too fast, the front end suspension bottoms out at full down travel instead of gently following the contour of the road. I can't comment on the 5100/stock spring combination, since I redid the entire suspension all at once - Camburg UCA's, OME 886, Bilstein 5100. I haven't done anything with the rear except to put new shocks back there, but I do need to do something to increase the load capacity. The added weight of the tent and other stuffz plus all the kit in my load plan makes for a tail-draggingly good time in the woods.

If you plan on carrying a hefty load, which, as it turns out, I do, then do something about that. If you don't carry heavy loads, then the front end suspension upgrade levels the truck out, nicely, without any work on the rear suspension. I haven't the foggiest idea where to start when it comes to researching which AAL kit I want to use, so that's sort of in limbo until I find a start point.

Wheelers has a nice AAL kit that I've been considering: http://wheelersoffroad.com/product/...3-heavy-duty-leaf-progressive-add-a-leaf-kit/

I bring my DRZ400 out to the desert a ton so I want to do something to the rear. I was thinking I'd just stick with the stock springs, at the full 2.5" lift with the camburg UCAs, and the AAL in the rear. Also when I go overlanding I do end up bringing the kitchen sink which could include 20 gallons of fuel so the rear dips a bit, even more so with a motorcycle on there.

Guess you're not selling the Taco anymore, juicebox?

I am selling my '02, these big 'ol tars are for my '06 DC.

I need to get more aggressive selling it. I've had 5 "serious" buyers, some that I've jumped through many hoops for, only to have "things come up"... It's really rather frustrating.

Amen, brother... When I built my '02, I didn't have much money, so naturally, all of the money I didn't have went into the truck. Then I couldn't afford to go on trips to use my truck. It just became a pretty paperweight in my carport.

My truck is nowhere near the badassery I have seen, but I'm working on getting there.

Soon after I got my 87 the Head gasket went so I did a full engnbldr rebuild with the RV head and 270cam. Figured why not lift it and throw a spartan in the rear.
