Welcome Doc, I hope you have all of those missing pieces for the truck. It will make life alot easier. Good luck with the build:)

The new rack looks great Monte, I can only assume that the jungle gym must have been a little too much? Are the latches one the drivers side there to make me assume the rack is hinged on the passenger side?

I guess that this is as good a place as any to introduce myself.
Hello everyone, I'm Doc, and this is my rig:

I'm slowly building it up in my folks' driveway between night shifts and classes.

Here's my goal:

truck%20design2ps1_zpscchyc0r9.jpg

I'm a hiking, backpacking, geology student, so the intended goal is to have a go-anywhere-do-anything rig: a field vehicle, mobile base camp, wheeler, you name it.
I'm looking forward to being a part of the community!

I would suggest making a double swingout. Rather than a single. A friend of mine did something similar and ended up chopping it down. It was difficult in parking spaces or where room to swing out a single set-up became an annoyance.

Do you have any natural light photos with them on your truck? Reason I ask is I picked up a set for $100 bucks and was going to put them on my 94 but I kind of want to put them on the Tacoma.

No.. I didn't take the B&W picture, my buddy did. I have a few on my build thread but not a full pic. I'll try and get you some as soon as I can. Below is the link to my build thread.

Welcome neighbor! If you gave the time, check out the swap meet in Petaluma hosted by yotaman. Lots of parts and information. I believe it's this Saturday.

Thanks! I like the position and man it feels way better on the trails. Can actually mob along at 40mph finally and not try and flip me over haha

I liked the old rack for the roof rack and the tent position when i was camping. So i made this one able to raise and lower. But yes you are right it does open side ways as well.

I do miss the roof rack, mainly for the lights. But i am digging the cleaner look more and more...
