Shower tents and privys

I picked up one of these from amazon.

It was $30, folds very quickly, sets up quickly, and folds up slim. Only used as a bathroom so far and there's nothing to hang a shower on inside so it may not be the best option for showering. It has come in very handy and the lady really appreciates it with the toilet.

We use the Cabela's enclosure, very room and stout. holds a 5 gallon shower bag without problems. We have used the walmart one in the past but was too restricting. When the wind blew, the sides would stick to you arm or back.

We use a Cleanwaste Portable Privacy Tent and a Go Anywhere Portable Toilet with Wag Bags. The shelter double for a shower and toilet enclosure. I think the shelter sets-up and comes down easy and fast. No loose poles. Compact for storage.

That is what I have. Bass Pro Shops sells them. Easy up and down!

what do you guys do when it is cold outside and need to shower? cold being around 32 give a take a few either way. I camp/hunt where there is no water or electricity. I have tried to suck it up and take a cold one but apparently I am too big of a wimp cuz I won't ever do that again. I have thought about buying one of these tents and running the generator with a small heating pumping some heat in there through a dryer hose. I am open to ideas.

I don't really like the shower shelters and figure I'd rather just multi-purpose something I already use.

I figure I'll just use my awning. I can slap a portapotty in there which would work great and not look like an outhouse. I don't think using it for a shower would be overly tricky either.

I don't have that much room. It would be nice. Not sure if I used one of those heaters in one of the small showers that it wouldn't melt it.

Checkout the Zodi propane hot shower systems and one of the pop up tents described here. Much easier than dragging a generator around and pretty compact.

I use the Paha Que and have a Helton Hotwater system mounted to the engine in my LandCruiser. Makes seriously hot showers. Only negative is the ability to carry enough water for 3 girls to shower!

Used to have the wire spring Outback Portaprivey. Set up in a snap. I was wire spring challenged tho and had a ***** of a time folding the damn thing up each and every time! Sold it!

I've used enclosures, a Zodi propane shower, Mr. Heater, etc. A lot of bother. A bunch of gear.

If it's not windy, but cold, I just rely on heating some water really hot and then dumping it into a shower bag. If you hang it right you can do one half of the body at a time, keeping some other clothes on for warmth. If it's windy, I just heat water and use a giant sponge and a towel, sorta like they do when you're stuck in bed in a hospital. $20 worth of blue tarp can also help. A pot, a shower bag and you're good to go.

Last summer I bought a Grand Trunk privacy shelter that goes up quickly, along with a three-gallon solar shower bag.

I basically pull it up, and the top clicks to the four arms running out to the sides. Then it's four legs click in place in the center, when extended all the way out, and it's up. Pretty simple, and only needs one person to do so.

Velcro staps also old it tight to it's four legs.

The first time I only staked the bottom of it to the ground, but then when hanging a filed solar shower bag from the top center, it wanted to twist and fall over due to that the water bag was not directly centered inside the tent. So it does need the cords from the top of the tent to be staked as well so no one gets exposed. :D

I did place a tarp under the tent, but it also has it's own floor (as shown on the right in the picture below) that can be put down or left on the side of the tent. It also has several inside pockets, and is rather large inside.

When taking it back down, I was surprised how well it folded up and fit right into the skinny bag it came in, and even zipped up without a challenge.

When I arrived home, I set it back up in my driveway to spray it out. It will stand on it's own without being staked. Nice! And I'd give it five out five stars as its well thought out and quick to put up or take down.

After watching a few campmates with their zodi's I think they are the ticket! However, I still just use the old standby of my 2 burner coleman, $2 foil turkey pan & washcloths. Sure it's not as nice as a running hot shower but you get just as clean and more importantly you can wash up in the tent with your mr buddy heater running!

I can just picture someone sitting in the pan...do you use a baster? do you have a little thing that pops out when you're done? :)

Simpler is better. And I forgot to mention that you save a bunch of water this way, as well as not having to deal with a wet tent. We used a privacy tent kayaking for a while: in cold the condensation inside was considerable, and in the heat they were just oppressive. But you can heat some rocks and make a nifty sauna.

ROFL that's funny! Can't wait to see someone using their actionpacker as a spa.

Curious how long in takes for a Zodi shower water tank to cool down?

Thinking about getting one for trip down to South America.

Thanks!
