Finished rear bar, making ladder now 😀 Honest opinions, it's handy but does it look stupid?

Thanks guys:) wanted to have a step on it but after I welded it all up I wasn't so sure. It is a handy and functional thing.

I like it and see nothing to be "ashamed" of.

I love seeing fab work on rovers. People treat them like they are Ferrari level. If only the jeep guys would listen to me when I say I have half the money they have in their JK.

I'm actually looking to make a hinged ladder for my TR rear bumper on my LR3. Now that I see your drop down step, I am going to see if I can incorporate something similar and hinged as well on my bumper in the back. That would be my only suggestion; you obviously have the fab skills so hinge it for departure angle advantage. I was thinking a hinge that is held in place in both direction with heavy duty springs like military vehicles have.

The fit and finish looks good on it. I think its practical and is unique. I mean that is the best part of modding a vehicle is being unique

Why not take the same approach to the step?

<interrupts lovefest> The step itself is fine. I'm not so hot on the bar that goes all the way around. <let the lovefest continue> :sombrero:

The step looks really handy...but...

...I'm curious what an insurance company might think of it after an accident, and would be a little concerned about its impact on departure angle.
