Bilsteins next? Airbags?

Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Yep bilsteins went in place of those, didn't grab a pic, it's a wee bit tight under there.

Has add on bags, running 45 psi, not touching overloads at all like that.

Awesome progress!

Thanks!!

Leaving town, means I need to wrap the bar up as the bolts it uses hold the bumper on....

Propane tank is in! My god that was not fun, its tight, like really really tight, cant lift the tank up, it has to be tilted and wiggled into place.... Apologize in advance for crappy pics, its tight. :D

The front side of the tank got through bolted through the floor, its under the fridge, which meant fridge had to come back out. Back side I couldn't do that as it would have been right inside the door. So I made some brackets, they go under the flange on the tank, pickup both bolts, and then bolt sideways through the floor member. Getting all that lined up with the tank in place was interesting.

Brackets with the lovely blue paint

And in place.

Remember it was tight? Its touching the spring hanger.....

A little sawzall action and more better. Hopefully that not enough to cause structural issues in the hanger.

Tucked up nicely, you cant even see it if your not looking. It will get a healthy coat of bed liner next.

Looks good. Do you have any plans for the exterior as far as paint or a wrap?
I'd love to rewrap it at some point, but it's big $. We have a plan to cut the logos off this one, should work OK for the time being.

Nothing real exciting, but a little more progress. Made up the first battery cable, big thanks to Cascadian for letting me borrow his crimpers! They are sweet. Self adhesive shrink tube is awesome.

New cable let me install the shunt for the Victron battery meter. While I like the RJ45 connections for the meter, damn getting those heads fished through holes sucks!

Gotta install this end still... But it works!

Ha thanks, bends didn't come out in plane very well. Oh well, I just bolted it on as we are trying to get out of town and those same bolts hold the bumper on!

If anyone notices, just tell them you hit a deer, or a Prius...:agree:

Java I know you are quite experienced with this "adventure vehicle stuff, but I have to ask... Are you planning to attach a rock guard/ deflection plate between the tire and the tank?

View attachment 394907

Oh no, I'm making this up as I go. Really....

Im debating, I think it may be a good idea. But also its an ASME tank, designed for exactly this. Its thicker walled than a standard tank. Also the valves and bungs are all on the side away from the tire.

If I do one, its not going to be real strong (1/8" ish alum maybe?), there isn't anything there really to attach it to on the bottom inside edge. Bigger rocks and stuff sure it would take that, but a tire blow out im not sure. I did speak with an RV owner who had a blowout with his tank placed like mine, near the wheel. It didn't do any damage to the tank.

EDIT: in your case with the valves facing the wheel I absolutely would.

Was that Larrabee state park you guys camped at? How did you guys like it? I live in Bellingham and am honestly not sure if I've ever even camped there (maybe sometime when I was really young). And yeah, probably not to fun driving something that wide on Chuckanut...

RE the rock guard, I think if you got yourself a rectangular piece of aluminum, formed it to the contour of the tank and then used some good non-hardening adhesive you could glue it right to the tank. Minimal fab and mounting concerns and it should add all the protection cushion you could ever need. Run vertical beads of the adhesive and don't try to seal the whole thing so water can drain and you would probably be good to go for as long as you're likely to ever own it.
