That looks like super fun climbing - the rock is a spitting image of the Owens River Gorge (near Bishop, CA). Yeah, a 5.9 hand crack that you can't get your hands in gets tough real quick! He with the big hands gets to flail then the small-handed wife/girlfriend/kid get to cruise and rave about the perfect jams. Good memories of my climbing days, thanks for sharing all those photos.

Its a super fun area! I took way too many pictures if you want to see more! :) Lots of basalt, some that is little ledges, some that is the big pillars. It gets HOT though.

Its a 5.10 crack (according to my book, 5.9 on MP I guess), I made it up once this time, but fell part way up (on top rope). Made it last time though. I can get them in, its just too tight for a sideways fist, and too wide for a vertical fist. I just seem to end up with my whole arm stuffed in for friction.

This one was a fun lead, only had ~5' of a 60m rope left. Not real hard (57-8 IIRC) but super pucker being that high

Ah yes, basalt, love the volcanic rock. Crack width between hands and fists is grim work! When you're looking for that solid elbow jam, you know it's getting ugly :)

Stopped by the NW Overland Rally for a night. Its getting big.... My good friends with Three amigos Offroad let me sneak in behind their camp area. Great to see friends we dont see often, but its a bit crazy.

Headed out of the rally Sunday am and drove up to Mazama, did a few routes and headed off a little early to make sure we could find a camp site, it was busy!

Nice spot near a creek, road getting there was interesting, I think I dragged belly a couple times.... No issues though.

It was my lovely wife's birthday, so we BBQ'ed some lobsters. They were good!

Lots of trips have been packed in! Kids of to summer camp so the adults get to do things she would not appreciate being dragged on. So first up was Pinto rock, 400ft of climbing, base of the rock is at 5123ft, pretty damn fun. Easy climbing, but out first long ish multi pitch.

Water bars for MILES. Ugh, but good lights really help.

Camp for the night.

Not a terrible spot to wake up.

The goal.

Almost to the top, truck looks tiny :)

At the top!

This neighboring one looks fun too. Half way down the rap off the back side.

Then back to the truck and drive home in time for the family 4th party.

I always thought it would be fun to rappel down the face of a dam!

Back in the mid 80's, I thought about rappelling down the side of Stone Mountain in Georgia, but we (my 5' 6" 110 lbs. GF and I) only had 200' lines with us, and I was afraid we would end up hanging 40' or 50' off the ground and not be able to get down. Would that be embarrassing or what?

These are just stock photos from their website.

Rapping down a dam sounds awesome!!

I only have the climbing ropes that are 60m, A long static would be good for doing long raps. I love rappelling, my wife, not so much :D Id like to find a waterfall to rap down!

60M is 196.85' so basically the same length as what I have. I bought a 600' spool of 11.4MM (7/16″) BLUEWATER II Static line, and cut it into three 200' sections. I kept one section and the other two went to fellow climbers.

A waterfall would be fun for sure, and I always wanted to do a frozen waterfall, but not too many of those anywhere near Florida.

That's big line by today's standards! My new rope I got this year is a 9.6mm

A long static would be nice to have, but wouldn't get used much I don't think

That line is NFPA approved for technical rescue and is one reason I bought it. I was looking to by line for the Fire Department I worked at, and this was a chance to evaluate it under extended circumstances, not just rappelling off the roof of a building a couple of times.

OK guys need wheel input again.....

Came across these "inner" dualies for the fancy 20" things guys run. I dont see any reason I could not run them at all positions, am I crazy?

20x8.25 ET 114 (4.5" from CL to WMS)

Stock is 19.5x6 with a 5 3/8" offset (CL to WMS)

My math (and assuming all the googled specs are correct) that puts my front inside rim edge ~1/8" in from the stock wheel location.

Thoughts?

These are the wheels https://www.ebay.com/itm/20-x8-3-Fu...m=312139848149&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

This is why we need good insulation and a stove in our truck. Majority of my climbing is ice.

Would you run those as super singles then?
