I'm really enjoying the progress: this build looks more and more fun each time I check in.

Also, great beer choice! :ylsmoke:
Thank you!
Got to try out the new interior on a 4 day roadtrip. Was supposed to go west to Norway with some buddies for a skitrip. But they fell off one by one and the last guy broke a couple of fingers just some days before departure. With the wife not beeing able to tag along either it turned in to a solo mission. I decided to head to somewhere I havn`t been before. Threw the skiing equipment and my fishing rods in the truck and headed north. Drove for 5 hours and found a great parking spot.

I could have started to fish right through the window.

Spend half a day landing some beautiful trouts in the river and a nearby lake.
Headed 2 more hours north into a mountainrange I havn`t visit before.

Just aimed for the white stuff. Skied and continud to fish throughout the days. Since it is so far north it`s basically daylight all the time. Could spend 10 hours hiking and skiing and still have several hours left to fish in the evenings.

I just met 2 people in these 4 days so there is no problem prancing around in your longjohns and underwear. No fashion police in sight.

Trip report:
4 days duration.
700 miles driven.
699 miles in 2wd on asphalt and gravelroads.
1 mile in 4wd on a rough gravelroad.
Mpg...forgot about that/didn't calculate.
19 trouts caught.
3 peaks skied.

Overall the truck ran great and everything worked well. Made breakfast in the camper and that was no problem when you are by yourself.
Got home and unpacked and treated the truck to some maintenance.

"Before" the bolts soaked in wd40.

"During" the differential cover came off easily. The gasket was a whole other story. I wonder if the oil has ever been changed. The magnet in the cover was quite covered with small metal pieces. But the gears looked like they where in good condition.

"After" I had to reuse the old bolts cause the new ones where to short. Now everything else under there looks like a rust graveyard in comparison! Ohhh well, atleast it's getting better step by step.

When you don't have a squeeze bulb or suction gun. Just put a tube in one of the lids and glued it in place.

You can tell that the truck has been living it's life in Sweden in more southern parts of the country. There they put salt on the roads in winter instead of learning how to drive in winter conditions. It's a real rustfest for cars/trucks. Some of the previous owners have been trying to rustproof the frame. But it's not by far a job well done.

Most of the crap (rust, dirt, old rustproofing) fell off just beeing blasted with compressed air. Then I got at it with a grinder and wirebrush. I could spend an entire lifetime down there but I would still not get everything. I will try and get the main frame in as good condition as possible. The right way to go about it would have been to lift of the truckbed and get the frame sandblasted and coated. But that would have been step one on the project. Spending your days on a concrete floor getting rust blasted into your ears, nose, eyes and skin is what you get for skipping step one. But I knew all this beforehand. So it's just to dig in and get it as good as possible. What was I saying before...atleast it's getting better.

I like that diff cover. Nice and easy to fill. :) and your bottle fill neck. :)
Thank you.
Just got back from a vacation in Italy. Got back at it and changed the oil in the front axle and transfer case.

Since you have to remove the skidplates to access the drainplugs I gave them a little lovin'.

"During"
Cleaned, sanded and painted with zink primer. Will give them a coat with some paint before reassembly.

The truck is blue and had some blue rattle can paint. It's not a perfect match but who's gonna crawl under and then get back up and make a comparison.

"After" took it for a testdrive going through 2Hi, 4Hi and 4Lo. Parked and checked for leaks. All good and put the skidplates back on.

Kept on going this weekend with some rustgrinding. Found this...

I drilled a hole to keep it from going further. And this...

So got to borrow my neighbours welding machine. Lucky me it's not in a place where looks are of importance, since I haven't had a weld gun in my hands for 20 years.

Slapped on a 3 mm steelplate and got the crack together.

Cover that mess with a big load of thick rustpreventing goo and forget about it! Let's see if there are more rust suprises left.

Trysil ski resort has spent alot of money into building fun xc mtb trails to attract summerguests. First time there in summer and it was a blast.
