Sleeping & storage platform design, looking for ideas and inputs

I've been using a nice cargo box I built in the back of my JKU for about a year now, it has served its purpose, but my needs are evolving.

I'm about to install a FrontRunner vertical water tank in preparation for loosing my factory bumper which now acts as my tank. I have to have onboard water for washing the GSD after the beach. I also plan on adding Springtail Solutions side racks and rear tailgate table. None of these items will fit with my current box. I also want a sleeping platform that will cover the ENTIRE back area with the rear seat laid down and the front seats slid all the way forward while still folding nicely into the rear cargo area when not in use. I plan on getting rid of the factory anemic sub and incorporating 2 or 3 8" subs into the box. Finally I don't want a hinged top, it's too difficult to get into when I have gear or the dog in the back, switching to a drawer.

So here is my idea, it finally came to me while walking the dog today. Put the top of the storage box on a 500lb 30" slider, slide it forward and make it unfold like a trifold wallet. As a bonus you can still access the factory storage depression with the top slid forward for those rarely used items like jumper cables or recovery gear. I'll use some 1/4" plywood that can be stored under the back seat or in the drawer to support the sides and front of the floor for sleeping/loading.

Any cool ideas or inputs are welcome, I'm still in the planning stages with this box. It will be a slow build as I've got a lot of irons on the fire with this Jeep. Things will change as I get the side racks, tailgate table, water tank etc. installed and see the exact dimensions.

It will be pinned between the front of the box/safari straps barrier and the seat back. I may attach it to the seat using the MOLLE straps on the seat backs of Trek Armor seat covers. I believe I'll have to modify the side racks to clear the tank so I guess the racks will help support the tank too. It will block the subs unless the seat is lowered.

Can you elaborate on using your current factory bumper as a water tank? Very interesting. I know it is roto molded, but is it completely sealed? What is its capacity?

Awesome build thread, got me excited about some mods for my JK. I'm bummed I didn't run into you in Va Beach before you PCS'ed to the other side of the world. :D
