Slow build of the 4runner

I had consider parting the 4runner but with being in Colorado and the stress of a new project. I just couldn't deal with it so I went ahead and signed the title over to the insurance company. So now I'm back searching for another vehicle. I've more or less narrowed it down to another 4runner (1999-200) or a Tacoma (2001-2004).
I thought about a Montero, Pathfinder or Passport/Rodeo but I just can't get excited about them.
Opinions/Poll:

I would suggest an ext cab Tacoma (if you have no kids). Six foot bed means a nice sleeping platform with plenty of cargo space. (Look at Baja Taco's build). 4Runners are nice, but having had both, Tacoma's are better in my opinion, as it has much more utility value. Which also keeps the resal value up as well.

I had a 3rd gen and now Im looking at going to a 4th gen due to power and better brakes and upgrades.

I would if you can swing it. I love the reliability of the 3.4, but it has its limits.
