I have been searching fo a small propane tank that is aprox 8" - 10" in dia with a height of 14" - 20"... Height isn't the big deal, dia is where I'm limited. I want to run this on the outside of the Jeep on the Tera-Flex HD hinge tire mount. I would like to have aprox 5lb but I'm not set on it, just need something tall & lean to fit my mount.

I was wanting one of the clear / see through style but I'm hearing they are not safe.

Thanks for the help

I'm interested in hearing more about how you are planning to attach a propane tank to the TeraFlex hinge mount. Thanks in advance!

The issue with the composite cylinders is that there was an almost total recall of all those sold in the United States a few years ago. Whether that recall was truly necessary remains a subject for discussion, but the issue remains that many propane refillers only remember that composite tanks are recalled and will refuse to fill them.

I think you would be perfectly safe, the issue would be convincing someone to fill it.

Very nice - I had not realized Cabelas had those.

Not sure where you are but camping world normally has a selection of tank sizes. It's where I got my little tank. Failing that, try the biggest rv dealer in your area. They may be able to hook you up.

Thanks but I'm not in the market for one. We have a Cabelas opening here in about 4 weeks. I'm looking forward to it.

I just got an email from Camp Chef, they have the fiberglass propane tank on sale, it is still $117.00.

I got lucky on my 10 lb tank from cabelas. They mislabeled it but still made good on their price. I was tired of fooling with one pound bottles and alcohol stoves. When I camp, especially in the cold, I want maximum power output for my stove.

Home Depot online has the 11# tank for $56.59 (and other sizes), which I have on my trailer.

FYI: I also bought Powertank's aluminum mounting bracket for this tank. Not inexpensive but will last forever and it's Made in the U.S.A.

P.S. I love having a propane tank like this. I have a Campfire in a Can, plus this hooks up to my Coleman stove so that I'm not using those small disposable tanks.

WoW... Thanks for all the good support, I feel like an idiot that I never looked at these places. I would have never guessed that Cabela's would have them. We have a new store that just opened aprox 57miles from me and the have them on the shelf. I went to Home Depot and didn't see them but I'm going to check all the local stores in my area before I drive to Cabela's. I could have saved some money if I ordered from Midland but I've waited to long.

I have a mount I think will work but if not I'll try the Power Tank mount.

I always use those little 1lb green tanks also and it is such a pain. This january while camping at CFW2015, I installed the ARB annex to the roof top tent. It gave me and my son a nice place to change and was able to put our buddy heater in to warm us up. The only problem was that the 1 lb tank only lasts 4hrs. With the 11lb tank we should be golden for winter camping and grilling off our Colman grille

Thanks for the help... I'll post up this weekend what I find & mount I use..
