SMALL TRAVEL TRAILER OFFROAD STABILITY?

So the search continues.. at this point I need interior space with a toilet.. jus't dont think I can do a pop-up.. I'm concerned with the first three option being top heavy and unstable in an off camber situation. I wont be on the Rubicon but State and National park trails and pig trails are the plan.. I would also add a couple of inches lift to the Scamp, Casita or Airstream with larger tires. I really like the Conqueror trailers and wouldn't be concerned with their stability, but my budget is tight at present .... :) Wondering what the concensus would be for these trailers? as usual, thanks for the input!!

Are you sure you want a toilet inside? I use an A-frame trailer and had the choice of what to get. I use a composting toilet setup outside. Frankly having a toilet inside is just not for me, plus that damn black tank has limited volume and the whole setup robs you of useful space. Outside bathroom facilities are good I will argue.

Other than my modest rant about bathrooms in trailers I would say your choices are good. Just try to keep your trailer weight around a ton or less. Also, recognize that RV's might use some of the cheapest construction methods in the universe! Be prepared to back up the staples used with screws and be ready to start a slow but steady system of upgrades for things like the pump(s), stereo's, etc. Expect to re-caulk all roof penetrations and windows. Think about putting the trailer on a diet as far as weight goes. The cheap materials used are often the heaviest as well.

I paid 9k for my 17 Casita with another 1k for the lift and leaf spring shock conversion. Shop around on Craigslist, cheap Casitas show up occasionally. Also the older 17s have front mount rather than roof top air which reduces overall height with leaf spring and 28 inch ties to 8'3".

Look on craigslist. Scamp's in my area are typically 3K used. There are a couple in your area for around 5K used. A little travel and elbow grease go along way to save a couple $K.

The Casita fits my needs, is easy to fix anything that breaks as the mechanical systems are simple. If I had to spend long periods inside in foul weather it might be tight but in normal conditions is perfect. Am midway thru a month long trip thru the Rockies.
