There's something great about the looks on this that really goes with the "fugly boxy expedition rig" aesthetic. A little bit of 5-bar tread plate and an olive drab paint job and this thing would be even better. 18' long! Not mine, but kinda wish it was...

I’m selling a 1980 Chevy Mobile Traveler with 72,000 original miles. Has a 350 engine that runs great and is very reliable. It’s 3/4 ton chassis and only 18ft long(fits in parking spots). The interior has been redone and the exterior left as is because we liked the character of it. Lots of storage space and comes with roof overhead storage bin. Overhead AC unit. Sleeps 2 over the cab, and 1-2 when table is folded down into couch. Overhead LED pod lights. CD player with AUX, and speakers wired throughout camper.
Updated 3 phase fridge and freezer that runs off propane and 120v. The stove/oven was removed before we got it so we just used a Colman stovetop. Furnace also was removed also so we just used a propane heater.
Has 20 Gal water tank with water pump, no water heater, and Dual sinks.
30AMP power source with built in inverter, 3 120v outlets inside.
Has bathroom and shower but we only used it as extra storage space.

Brand new BFG All Terrain Tires and aluminum wheels.
Recent work done under 10,000 miles-
Main battery, Secondary Battery, Distributer, plugs, wires, belts, water pump, thermostat, radiator, transmission fluid, fuel filter, air cleaner, and a lot of little things. Have receipts for all parts and work.

We just took this thing on a 3 month road trip all around the southwest. Very reliable and comfortable to live in. Van isn’t perfect but priced accordingly. $5500obo. No trades, and motorcycle in photo not included. Run it as is or make it your own. Perfect for a weekend camper, or full time live in. Contact me anytime, thanks!"

I found an old ad for the Mobile Traveler. Construction sounds decent, with welded steel plate floor, steel wall framing & steel roof. Walls have 1.5" of foam insulation.

Oldie but goodie.

That's just straight up awesome to me! My daily driver is a 1995 Chevrolet K1500 so this isn't lacking much on the safety aspects than that is and I'd definitely give it a go!

One heads up on the Mobile Traveler. We owned a 1979 on a Dodge Chassis. Liked the general design but there was a flaw. The original frame had been extended to accommodate the living quarter. A flat plate had been welded to the end of the original U channel frame and the extension simply butt welded to the flat plate. An awful design. Someone had added an extension to the bumper on ours to hold a generator and one day the whole thing, from the original frame back just fell off because the butt weld broke.

Woah! Was yours longer than 18 feet long? Guess adding in some reinforcement to that area should be on the list. I'm amazed the MT above didn't break with a moto on the rear hitch!
