Sofa Bed with Seat Belts

I'm thinking about adding a sofa bed with seat belts into my E350 camper. Has anyone used shop4seats.com or Superior Seats? I'm wondering how comfortable they are to sleep on once folded down. Do they fold down perfectly flat? Also, how difficult are they to install. I think it requires drilling through the floorboards and putting a u-bolt around the frame.

I am considering the Dakota from them as well, and would also like to hear from those who have used them?

Shop4seats does a good job.

You can do the U bolt option or you could drill thru the seat frame and bolt thru the floor board. Ive done it both ways, just depends if you want 4 holes or 8

I have had afew different types of sofa beds in a few different vans i have owned and none of them were very comfortable, even with a memery foam mattress on top.(i have not tried the company you are looking at though)
A few tips unless you are 5'4" you will need the extra bench cusions also. I made a platform in the back of my vans so I could stretch out( im 5'11")and added a 4" piece of foam onto that it made the sofa a lot more comfortable. The sofa I currently have is from a late model vw vanagon,it is wider and the back is taller then most van sofa beds
I ended up pulling sofa out and made a platform for a real mattress for when i was travelling long term and did not need the sofa for the kids. It was a lot nicer.
Good luck

We Sleep on a sofa bed in back of our conversion van, leather bed, folds flat and I made a removable
extension at the same height and sleep the long way in our van moving the second row seats forward, we tried putting a futon mattress on it and it was ok for a while, to heavy to move out of the house and in the van, we went to good camping mats an a slip sheet under for so the mats don't move around on the leather.
With good mats and good sleeping bags we have never sleep so good.

I have a Superior Seats sofa in gray that I need to sell. I also had them include the "add-a-back" feature for a larger sleeping platform. I'm selling it because I changed over to the Sienna seats in the back.

I'm in SE Michigan, pm me if you are interested.

Just putting this in here in case someone is ever doing a search: I learned some interesting stuff from shop4seats.com this week:

I had inquired about getting a Princess sofa in a 48" width (4" narrower than the smallest size listed on the site). I received the following:

The princess sofa can be made in 48” wide but you would be looking an additional $130 modification fee. We have a standard lead time of 6-7 weeks, however we do have a quick build program which expedites your order through production within 15 business days for 20% up charge, minimum $100 quick build fee.

Potentially useful info for people like me with a smaller van who want to leave room for a cabinet...

I am considering mounting longitudinal, or front to back axis, against pass side wall. It folds out to 51" while 74" long. This fits behind my second row Siena seats fine, and allows room when stowed as a couch. The down side is when opened as a bed, it leaves little space for build along driver side wall.
I also discovered the up charge for quick delivery, but viewed it as a lesson in patience...

What is the width? I can't fit wider than a 46" seat since I have shelving on one side of the van.

We have a sofabed from shop4seats. Installation was pretty easy. We still haven't gotten around to adding seat belts. They can't be mounted to the frame of the sofabed and must be mounted through the floor.

We've been sleeping on the sofabed for about 18 months solid. It's been quite comfortable, medium-firm foam.

From the blog above, "As a side note, we’re not really sure who actually built the sofa bed. It was purchased from shop4seats.com, the packaging was branded with SeatCraft, and there are Atwood Manufacturing stickers on the frame, so yeah."

Atwood makes the frames, as seen in their brochure.

Seatcraft builds seats on Atwood frames as discussed on their site, "The Seatcraft story begins in 1978 in California as a manufacturer of automotive seating. After starting with van seats, the company soon expanded into RV seating and furniture, where it developed a solid reputation as a leader in the industry. In 2001, its horizons broadened to the world of home theater seating." I haven't found much on their van seats so I doubt they sell direct to consumers.
