OK guys, sorry if this is the wrong section, but it's my first post and didn't want anyone that can use this to miss out on an opportunity.. so thought I would pass on a possibly good deal. On woot today they are selling the SOG entrenching tool, hatchet, and saw for 39.99.

Seems like a good deal if you are looking for some fairly cheap equipment for your rig. They have gotten some mixed reviews, but SOG does offer a lifetime guarantee (although a guarantee doesn't do you much good if the shovel breaks when you need it most). I purchased a set today to check it out.. if you bought this set on Amazon you would spend $90 so I figure the risk is definitely worth the reward.

I would also love to hear from anyone who uses this set.

disclaimer: I have NO affiliation with woot.com or any seller for that matter.

Woot says it is only a 1 year warranty.

Funny comments though.... Everything from Zombies to this would be the perfect kit if it included lyme and a large trash bag....

I would have issue with the size when it comes to using the "shovel." It's a commercial copy of a military entrenching tool. Not always the most stable handle mechanism and less than half the size or weight of a regular shovel. They don't dig very well in less-than-soft dirt. Many times in the Army, my fellow Soldiers or I have quickly discarded the "E-tool" and grabbed a regular sized shovel off a vehicle pioneer kit.

My only concern is that when you really need a shovel, you need a large, long handled shovel. For most big stuff you need a true axe, a hatchet is good for kindling and such.

This kit looks great for posing on the truck, but for tools that are used and really required, i much prefer fullsize.

Saw it posted on another board from a guy that bought one on a previous sale, he said the shovel blade is smaller then the palm of his hand.
Sounds more like a gardening tool too me
