I've been asked some questions about some of the configuration options, so I'm attaching some new pics.

The Sportsmobile also comes with three extra, identical Captains chairs. One used to go where the galley unit now sits, and two used to go where the rear bench now goes. The Captains chairs and the bench utilize different mounting brakcets so they are not interchangeable. Also the rear bench headroom isn't the greatest, so I wouldn't recommend for people over 5'7"-5'8".

Had a few questions that have come up a few times, so I thought I'd answer them here and in my ad on SportsmobileForum.

1) Yes, I monitor EGTs. The BD Power X Monitor displays EGTs, Trans temps and Boost. The pyrometer is pre-turbo, and the alarm feature of the X-Monitor is set to 1300 degrees. I drive by the EGTs and never let them go above 1150 or so, and try to keep them below 1100 at all times.

My ideal EGTs before turning off the engine are 350 degrees, my goal is 375 degrees, and I NEVER shut off the engine until the EGTs are below 400 degrees.

2) Yes the SMB has a Hi Idle feature. The transmission must be in Park, with the parking brake engaged to operate the hi idle (also known as auxiliary idle) which raises the RPMs to somewhere around 1200 rpm. Useful if running the compressor for extended periods of time.

Hope this answers some people's questions.

FYI, I also religiously monitor trans temps, and have never had anything approaching high temps. No doubt the MagHytec transmission pan with Amsoil synthetic transmission fluid helps in this regard. I also monitor engine oil temps and engine water temps on my ScanGauge. Monitoring the differential between these two readings let me know earlier this year that I had a problem with the oil cooler before there was any failure. This led me to have the oil cooler replaced, and I also had the factory EGR Cooler replaced with a unit from BulletProof Diesel at that time.

Asking $72K

Thanks Brett. Yes, I updated my first post with the new asking price of $72K. I should have included that in the bump where I mentioned the lowered price.

This would make a nice red sleigh for the holidays. No reindeer needed.

Yep, still for sale.

A few nibbles in the past few weeks, so we'll see if any of those pan out. I knew it would take a while to sell this rig in this economy. If it doesn't sell, I'm more than happy to keep it and enjoy it.

Had a question on the seatbelt situation for the middle and rear Captains seats. The Captains seats have the seatbelt mechanism attached to the seat itself, with the shouldbelt attachment point connected to the van body. The second pic shows the anchor point for the shoulder portion of the belt. That part always stays connected unless removing the Captains seat.

To remove the Captains seats, the shoulderbelt is disconnected, and the seat pedestals have a quick disconnect that is moved, and then the Captains seat are removed.

I had someone interested in the SMB wanting me to confirm that the Captains seats (not the driver's or front passenger's) can rotate. I removed the one bolt, and after disconnecting where the shoulder belt attaches to the van body, and after releasing the latch, the Captains seats do rotate. When rotated back to the forward position, the seat locks back in place.

The available room for the two rear-most Captains seats to rotate is limited if the rear bed platform is installed however.

Was hard to see it drive off, but the new family should get lots of joy out of it, based on theirs smiles as they drove off.
