Met wolfrubicon & took this for a test drive last week.
The conversion looks and feels factory, 5spd shifts smoothly. Heavy, heavy clutch w/ good engagement. Body/frame are incredibly rust-free. Drove around town & on freeway w/ no issues.
Loved the aluminum shooting platform on the rack; ladder/platform did not flex under my 200lb.
Did not test 4wd. Was very impressed w/ the truck & my kids wanted me to buy it.
I was on the fence between buying this TDI vs. upgrading my westy. Decided to show my VW a bunch of love this fall instead of bringing the Disco home. GLWS.

Love this truck and wish I could buy it back:) I did the build and Tdi conversion a few years ago before moving onto the next project. Hunter took this truck and made it even better! You will not find very many 300 tdi discovery in this condition. It is top of the line and you will not be disappointed if you purchase this rover. You can easily get into this truck and drive it out west w/o issue.

Good luck with the sale. My next project arrives in the driveway in two weeks. The tdi defender is sitting in a barn awaiting some love. Hunter, hope to catch up soon.

Cheers,
Scott

Bump for an awesome truck, great seller, and excellent Rover guy builder!!
This is one I would consider buying, rather than building my own, knowing all the parties. You cannot come near duplicating it for the price! Could easily cost double to build IF you could find as good a truck to start the process...

With an odometer that reads in KMs, this sounds like it's not a truck manufactured to USA specs. Where was it imported from? Or did you swap out the dash when you did the engine transplant? I ask because Land Rovers from North Carolina have been in the news lately...

Actually, Defenders- specificly- from all over the USA that were pro ported noncompliant as imported by a certain importer in NC were in the news lately. Question is how does that pertain to this NAS titled Discovery??

So there is no requirement for the instrument cluster to be in MPH rather than KMH for cars certified to be here in the USA? When I had grey market cars in the early 80's I had to change out the instrument cluster back then.

Unfortunately for those of us in emission controlled locations non EPA certified diesels like the 300 tdi cannot be registered. Otherwise I would dearly love to consider this vehicle! GLWS!
