SOLD.

2002 TOYOTA TACOMA WITH CUSTOM CABOVER CAMPER / 4x4 XTRA CAB/ TRD OFF ROAD / AUTOMATIC / $12,000 o.b.o / 172,XXX miles

Selling Cabover Camper Shell (similar to a callen camper) with interior wooden bed/bench and floor mats for $4K o.b.o.

I am the second owner; I bought the truck with 42K miles in 2007. Since then I have driven it 95% highway miles and 5% snowy roads / fire roads. No major issues, best car I have ever owned. My wife and I use it as a daily driver and our climbing/skiing camper for mobbing around California. Was recently featured in the summer 2016 REI catalogue and website, so it might look familiar to some. We need more space for the family so the truck has to go...

Time for some new folks to take the "Tacoma Lounge" out for some rad adventures!

Truck Features:
Registered through August 2017.
New breaks and break fluid.
V6 gas engine ~17mpg w/camper
4x4 electronic on the fly shifting.
Locking Rear Differential
Michelin Defender LTX mud/snow tires (been on truck for ~10k miles, 70K warranty).
Moonroof
Synthetic oil changes and oil filter changes every 5K
Rear leaf has Hellwig helper springs installed
10k miles on new front coils and shocks and new rear shocks (all rancho RS9000XL adjustable shocks)

Full Disclosure: Upcoming maintenance/known issues:
Timing Belt was last replaced at 111k Miles
There is a slight oil leak in the valve cover gasket (burns ~1/2 quart between 5k oil changes w/syn oil).
There is a cosmetic ding on the rear right side in front of back tire (photo)
Roof rack on camper is bent, but still works, the rack bolts on and can be easily removed or replaced.
I have the full service history since owning the truck and can e-mail it to serious buyers.

Camper Features:
I designed the camper myself and build out the interior. It is the 5th generation camper I've had on this truck, its the biggest and the best. Super light and more multi-functional than a Four Wheel Camper. It is very similar to a Callen Camper but it is aluminum instead of steel. Its a Custom designed Camper shell from lifetime campers color matched to truck (weight is ~250lbs).
Unique and ultra functional opening sides.
Baker doors on rear with widows and curtains.

I ordered the custom shell and then did the following:
Insulated with 1" rigid foam
Added a interior finish and curtains
Fabricated a wooden bench/bed/cooking setup that has ample storage

Built a folding wall for the overhead storage compartment (can fit all sleeping gear and multiple 100L duffle bags).
Spray-on rhino bedliner
Custom cut-out industrial kitchen grease mats for the floor. -Best truck camper floor EVER - all the sand/dirt/mud falls through and floor stays really clean. Takes one minute to remove mat and sweep clean.

It is a very flexible layout that enables use of the truck as a daily driver with a large storage space in the rear for camping or hauling stuff.
Camper alone cost more than 4K in materials. Its hard to find these size campers for small trucks.

Bike and propane tank in pictures are not for sale.

Located in San Diego County. Willing to drive a reasonable distance to deliver - I am occasionally in Santa Barbara, Tahoe, Mammoth, and SF as well.

Lots of interest in just selling the cabover shell - so the custom shell and interior benches are now for sale alone. $6k.

Price Drop: $12k / just shell- $4K

build cost of shell was ~5k. Its basically an insulated callen camper shell made out of aluminum for a Toyota Tacoma.
