The short story:
-Bike: 2008 R1200GS
-spare parts highlights: Woody's 18/21 tubeless wheels (OEM wheels too), Akrapovic Ti exhaust, Touratech GSA suspension, mucho crash protection, 2 sets of luggage,
-mileage: ~82k
-maintenance: up to date with 12k/annual (the big, big one) service just done
-issues: occasional rear lamp warning (I'm working on sorting this and hope to have it done soon), not a garage queen
-fly 'n ride: bring it on, I'm closest to Burbank, but can help support LAX flights too, and willing to ship the spares
-why I'm selling: I'm in nursing school; I need $$$ more than I need a spare moto
-why you want to buy it: instant street cred, you like sorted bikes, you're planning BDR shenanigans and don't care for chain maintenance
-will I sell any of the spares/mods: nope, not without selling the bike first, new owner gets to choose
-Price: $10k obro.

Recent Maintenance:
-BMW Inspection (12k service) with Annual (performed 3/21/22 by a BMW master tech and myself), this service included

--new alternator belt
--4 new spark plugs
--OEM air filter
--new rear brake pads (OEM)
--valve adjustment
--throttle body sync
--clean/lube driveshaft splines
--replacement of both swingarm boots
--replacement of telelever ball joint boot
-the recent (2021) fuel pump recall has been done
-clutch was replaced ~20k miles ago according to PO
-FYI, between myself and the PO we only ever put BMW fluids in the bike

Issues/things to note:
-not a garage queen, has many spots of cosmetic character all over the bike. The photos are the best source of that information. If you have a specific area of concern please reach out
-rear brake lamp warning light comes on intermittently. When this happens the rear running lamp stops working. The brake light does still function though. I'm working on solving this, but it may just be an issue with the RIGID light not playing well with the BMW CANbus. I've got a used OEM lamp unit if you want to switch it out.
-has the classic BMW "R" bike clutch chatter at idle. Most of them have some version of this noise, but it's 100% not an issue with functionality. However, if you've never heard it before it will sound like the bike is about to grenade itself.
-OEM front wheel has a small ding/flat spot from the PO. It still holds air just fine (TPMS is awesome), but is no longer within spec as far as lateral runout is concerned. I've got the wheel balanced pretty well, and I can't tell that it's affecting the bike at freeway speeds, but it's there.
-Final drive (which you should ask about with these older GS's): is fine. Has ~1mm of lateral play, and according to the FD guru Anton Largiader (who was actually at the '08 GS release) the spec for lateral play on an '08 is 1mm. So we are all good.
-the aluminum bags need some work. I got them as a mechanics special separately from the bike and the right side is ok, but the left side is basically trashed. Check out the pics for more info.

-I'll post a few below, but here's the link to the complete photo album:

Price:
-$10k or best reasonable offer for the whole package.
-Please, keep in mind the bike is worth about $5k in stock trim and has over $10k in add-ons.

The long story:
I got it in last year from a buddy who is a master BMW tech to build into a poor man's HP2/BDR machine. However, now nursing school is taking all my time, I have a 2012 GSA I daily, and this thing is begging to be ridden. My friend got it as the supposed second owner from a SoCal BMW dealer and used it to learn how to ride a BMW off-road. He added all the protective bits, the risers, handguards and pegs. Let me repeat, this bike has been ridden off-road a lot. That being said, it's been over-maintained. Sadly, I don't have those records, just my friends words (and I trust him, and if you need a BMW serviced in SoCal you should trust him too) but we did just perform the annual/12k (all fluids, belt, plugs, all FD rubber bits, etc) and the bike is in tip-top mechanically shape. It runs great, doesn't burn or leak oil, valves are spot on, and I replaced all the worn wear items. It is literally ready to jump on and run 6,000 miles before you need to do anything.

As it sits now, it's currently in street mode with the OEM wheels and the front fender/rear mudguard installed. It takes me roughly 45 minutes to put it into dirt mode (swap wheel set, remove fender/mudguard, take off rear seat, remove center stand), which will drop the wet weight from 535.7lbs to 494.4 lbs (compared to a stock HP2E which is a published 433 lbs wet). If you wanted to drop a little more extra weight, and you were going to run a soft bag set-up like a Giant Loop Great Basin or Mosko Moto Reckless, pulling the Vario bag mounts is relatively quick and easy.

Thanks for reading my novel, and feel free to reach out with any questions.
