Description
Thanks for taking a look at my 2012 Jeep Wrangler/JK Unlimited Rubicon. I purchased this awesome 4wd adventuremobile new from NW Jeep in Beaverton, Oregon on January 2nd, 2012. Since then it’s been thoroughly enjoyed, garage kept, carefully maintained and thoughtfully upgraded. From day one this beauty has been incredible off-road and on. My Jeep before this one was a 1999 Cherokee/XJ which I loved, but wow this Rubicon was a huge upgrade in technology, safety, comfort and capability.

I have all of its maintenance records in a Google spreadsheet which will transfer to the new owner. Routine oil/fluid changes have always been on schedule and with Mobil 1 synthetic products where applicable. All other service (suspension upgrade, backup camera, belts, recalls, etc) has been performed by the Jeep dealership where purchased, NW Jeep. With an exception for the security film on all the glass which installed by Elite Window Tint here in Oregon.

The black leather interior is in really good shape and includes almost every option available at the time, see factory option list below. Interior highlights are for sure the heated front seats and the top of the line Uconnect 730n nav/infotainment unit. Other features of note are the side impact airbags, premium Infinity speakers, steering wheel audio & cruise controls and automatic climate control. There’s also a dealer-installed backup camera integrated with the factory 730n nav unit, one of my favorite upgrades. I have the original Monroney Label which will be included at sale and lists everything.

The Rubicon was already incredibly capable in stock form but the addition of the AEV 2.5 Dual Sport XT suspension took it to the next level. The ride is very smooth and flat with the addition of the AEV geometry correction brackets to the suspension. The added height easily allows clearance for the 33" tires BFG AT KO2s in load range C (nice and soft). Note that 35" tires will also fit with this suspension on appropriately backspaced wheels like AEV's. With the tires aired down and the sway bar disconnected this thing will crawl over just about anything, really inspires confidence. I've tested the lockers many times to ensure they work but I've honestly never had to use them to get out of a jam. Pick a reasonable line, or not, and this thing will just roll on through.

Over the years my goals of this build were to increase:
1) protection - added an aluminum engine oil pan and transmission skid by River Raider and the Mopar enhanced Rubicon rock rails
2) comfort - Hot Head headliner & sound deadening strips result in a noticeable interior noise decrease and lower summer cabin temperature
3) security - locking hood latches & gas cap, 3M security film on all glass and the Tuffy steal trunk enclosure (removable)

Those goals were met without sacrificing reliability or adding too much weight. Like many here on ExPo, I subscribe to the philosophy of keeping it simple and light. You can easily go overboard with all that's available in the aftermarket for JKs but I tried to keep it to just meaningful improvements for how we used it.

Empty vehicle weight is well below the GVWR of 5700 lbs. A typical trip with our family of four and all of our gear would bring the Jeep to around 5300 lbs, as measured by ODOT’s convenient weigh station scales. Speedometer has been corrected for the 33” inch tires with the included AEV ProCal.

The Front Runner roof rack was an excellent and versatile addition. It allowed us at various times to safely run a roof top tent, Yakmia skybox, ski/fishing rod rack, carry Christmas trees, stand on top for whale watching at the beach, etc. Went with the half rack to still be able to remove the front Freedom top panels for that top down Jeep experience, really the best of both worlds.

Jeep is not perfect cosmetically, but it’s in very good condition and has low miles for a 2012. Of note, there's a small tear in the seat cushion of the driver's seat that's been repaired with color matched black leather tape, not really noticeable unless pointed out. I've had it detailed a few times over the years at the Freeman Motor Co. Autospa. The black forest green pearlcoat paint is something you have to see in person, it's a gorgeous dark green in direct sunlight, but appears black most other times. I'll post more photos in different lighting to really show it off.

In addition to the current walk-around photos, I have many pictures from all our years of adventure together which do a good job of tracking it’s progression. I'll be uploading those in following posts as there appears to be a 10 photo limit. Please reach out with any questions, I’m happy to provide any additional information.

Hey beerhiker, thanks for taking a look! I'm planning to do an interior photo shoot when I have some time this weekend, wanted to finish detailing the inside. I'll get some underbody shots while I'm at it and tag you when they're up here.

Just got an pre-sale inspection at NW Jeep and addressed the items found:
  • Replaced left and right front hubs (wheel bearings)
  • Brake fluid exchange
I'm planning to post this Jeep on an auction site soon, please get it touch if you're interested! Message me here on Expo or email me: jeep@pdxwww.com
