We are selling our EOS-12 unit, in excellent condition. Used a total of three times. We just don't get as much use out of it as we would like. This unit comes with numerous upgrades, including dual 20# propane tanks, 400ah of lithium batteries, 500w rooftop solar, and a 12v roof mounted air conditioner, which can run for a limited time off of solar. $76,000.

Boreas Campers is excited to announce a new addition to its lineup of rugged, off-road camper trailers, the EOS-12. The EOS-12 is named after the Greek goddess of the dawn and mother of Boreas, and the length of the cabin, which is 12 ft long.

The EOS-12 keeps the foundation that has made the XT the standard for off-road camper trailers, including a powder coated steel chassis, all-terrain tires and independent Cruisemaster suspension, giving it 20” of clearance. It is also built with the industry leading, zero-wood construction used on all Boreas Campers models, eliminating the possibility of decay and rot that comes with wood elements.

Any idea if Boreas warranties transfer?

Where are you located? I don't see that in the post.

The lifetime chassis warranty will transfer. The general warranty of 24 months transfers, and has 15 months left on it. I'm in Raleigh NC, but can ship the camper anywhere.

Awesome! Thank you. This is being sold as a used personal trailer correct? So there would be no sales tax in the transaction?

I believe it depends on your state. Tell me your state and I'll look into it. There would be no taxes collected during the transaction.

When you register a vehicle you pay sales tax to the state at that time. I have personally never lived in a state where this is not the case.

Some states require that you pay tax to the seller in their state if not shipped and through a dealer. Many times as a result shipping it may save you money.

Also beware, if you pay taxes to the sellers state when buying from a dealer, you may then have to pay again in your state where you register and getting that double dipped money back from a state is near impossible.

I think it is all different through a private party sale. Private party, no sales tax is ever paid to the person selling, only to state when you register.

I didn't realize you pay sales tax to the state at registration for a private party purchase of a used trailer. Is that true for private party used car purchases as well? I have only ever purchased new vehicles from a dealer in state and therefore paid sales tax during the purchase. For some reason I always thought avoiding the sales tax along with a depreciated cost was the big advantage of buying private party used.

It has been a few years since I purchased used from private party. But I have purchased 5 or 6 in 20 years from out of state and locally. Always paid sales tax.

Same for MI, CA, UT, TX as far as I know and I doubt it is avoidable.

In Oct 2022, I bought used from dealer in AZ. I had it shipped and paid sales tax in CO + registration fee. Had I went to pick it up I would have had to pay AZ tax, then prove it to CO. Then pay CO tax and ask CO for a refund of AZ tax and DMV said.... good luck with that, so I had it shipped. My county's tax was a fraction of AZ tax, so it was easier and I spent less $$ on taxes. AZ tax was over 10%, mine was 2.9, so it paid off to ship it. Buyer beware.

As someone already said, it may depend on state, county and municipality.

" Motor vehicle sales in Colorado are subject to state and state-administered local sales and use taxes. Which local taxes apply depends on the city, county, and special district(s) in which the vehicle will be registered, the purchaser’s residence, and the location of the sale. In general, a motor vehicle sale is subject to all state and state-administered local sales taxes that apply to the location of the sale. For sales tax purposes, a motor vehicle sale generally takes place at the location the purchaser takes possession of the vehicle. If the seller delivers the vehicle to the purchaser at the purchaser’s location, the sale takes place at that location."

" Whether you buy a vehicle from a private seller or a dealership, you’ll need to pay sales tax on a used car just as you do a new vehicle. How much you pay in taxes depends on where the car will be registered, the car’s value, and other state tax specifications on car purchases."

If your bill of sale is drastically different than the value of the car, you may have some tap dancing to do.

Motor Vehicle Sales Tax

Motor Vehicle Sales Tax is due on most motor vehicle purchases or transfers.
Tax is due every time that a title transfers, unless an exemption applies. This includes sales by car dealers, leasing companies, private individuals, or any other type of business.

I do not know if trailers are an exception or not. Nor do I claim expertise in this. It also might be "property tax" in some places, but IMO, impossible to avoid.

Thanks. It's not something I have looked into closely. I definitely misunderstood the advantages of buying used. I guess you are still avoiding a bit of the initial depreciation of driving a new vehicle off the dealers lot assuming you don't pay a like new price.
