**SOLD** Custom glued overland Camper for Ford E-450

PART 1 of 2.
PART 2 of 2 - IS AT THE BOOTOM PAGE WITH ADDITIONAL PICTURES

This is a custom aluminum overland camper on a 2021 Ford E-450 chassis, these picture were taken yesterday.

  • It has been primarily glued/bonded with Toughened Structural Acrylic Adhesives, there are some stitch welds. Built by a top tier manufacturer. Aluminum allows for exact and precise tolerances.
  • The goal was to make the ultimate camper that could be used in many ways as a complete adventure home, with hammock arms, roof top deck, and massive storage.

  1. SELLING BECAUSE: Due to the negative impact of Covid on the business.
  2. VEHICLE TYPE: 2021 Ford E-450. 158" wheelbase. 7.3L V8, Electric 6 Speed Auto, Preferred Equipment Package, Dual 240 Amp Alternator, Lane assist. Loaded with every option. The order build sheet was attached as an image at the bottom of this page.
  3. BLANK SLATE: Even though interior plans can be seen and are available to use, the inside is a blank slate that can be designed how you wish.
  4. DIMENSIONS: The main section internal dimensions are: 15' long, 84" wide, 84" tall. The Sleeper is in addition to this at: 54" Long/deep, 84" Wide, Tall 29 (Inside height)
  5. BEDS: Designed to hold a California King in rear (East to West) with 38.5" high of garage clearance under the bed) and 44" of height/space above rear bed platform. A FULL Bed goes in the Sleeper. A full bed mattress is: 53" x 75". This will allow for a closet space at the foot of the sleeper mattress, or just use a long 84" mattress.
  6. HAMMOCK ARMS: There are two hammock arms that fold down off the side that will hold 2 hammocks. Off the rear are two Hammock chair arms that rotate up vertically. You can then sit in the hammock chairs and overlook the beach or mountains as you relax and drink a cold beverage. The two side hammocks would have the 15' Dometic awning that could be extended to cover them for needed shade or rain. There are 2 pictures at the bottom of this page that show me laying in one of the 2 hammocks. I just quickly attached the hammock straps to the bars. They now have mounting holes for the hammock carabiners. This is my now white Isuzu NPR crew cab camper that I am also selling. (I never even had the chance to use it). You will see how the hammock bars lie flat against the wall of the camper. I will list this camper for sale with pictures in the next 3 weeks.
  7. TIRES STORAGE: Two spares mount on the 2 Rear garage swing-out doors, or the tire(s) can be put into the garage if concerned with theft while driving through Central America. Tires are lowered off rear doors with pulley on Hammock Chair arms to the ground. See pictures at the bottom of the page how the tires are mounted to the rear swing out doors on my Isuzu camper.
  8. SAFES: There is a 84" long x 12" wide x 5" deep rifle safe (or it will hold spear guns or metal detectors) It is designed into the bed frame and a biometric safe is at the foot of the bed to hold computers, camera, pistols, etc.
  9. ROOF DECK: The roof is diamond plate, designed to walk on as a deck. Mounting brackets by KeeSaftey can be mounted to the deck, to create a quick railing system that can be stored inside the camper. The roof is supported by 2" x 2" crossmember, at a slight bow for rain runoff and strength, The roof can be accessed via the roof hatch and also a ladder on the side. The flat walkable roof deck area is 17' long x 80" wide.
  10. COMPLETION: It can be completed in short time to how you desire with: Professional wiring, insulation in the 1" wall cavity, bed, kitchen, dinette made with the custom aluminum manufacturer, or you could finish/make it yourself. It is ready to drive to your location now. This current set-up would save you a lot of money, as you could complete this for under a total pice of under $90,000. Van conversions go for roughly $160,000 $180,000 and there is a 18 month wait with just SportsMobile for example. This is ready to drive today, far larger and with a 14,000 GVWR or higher after new custom suspension and springs with the 4x4 conversion. And with a short hood to not impede vision and the E-450 being loaded with all options at a very low price, it is an unbelievable set-up.
  11. DINETTE, BED & KITCHEN AND READY TO ENJOY: An RV Dinette can be purchased and placed in, and kitchen built. Bed platform, Insulation, electrical and walls can be paid to be completed on site if you wish. Body could be painted onsite, Line-Xed or even left raw - And you are ready to go in no time, for a fraction of the cost of a typical overland camper.
  12. THE ULTIMATE LAYOUT: With a California King bed in the rear and Full Bed in the Sleeper (with a toilet and shower in-between them, so no one has to crawl over each other like most RV's, two couples (or kids and parents) can be separated at opposite ends from each other. The Dinette can create another small bed for more kids or the dogs. (My dogs sleep with me through :) At night, sit up on the giant roof top deck and have dinner under the stars or event sleep on the roof deck, or open the fold down the deck from the Master bedroom and sleep under the stars as the rear fold out deck would already have a mattress attached to it, to extend the Bedroom mattress. Or, sleep outside in the hammocks that fold out from the side of the camper. (See image) No Solar is needed with 1,200 AMP Hours of Lithium, so this free's up the entire roof and you could put kayaks also on the roof. The lithium batteries simply charge from the 2nd Alternator in only 2.5 hours each. 1,200 Amp hours are more than an Earthroamer. (and Earthroamer come with about 918 Amp Hours)

COSTS:
  1. BODY: The way the aluminum camper body is right now has cost: $28,000, but we are willing to take less in the sale.
  2. WINDOWS: All custom dual pane tinted glass mitered windows have been purchased at a discount from Motion Windows. Cost: $5,734.Receipts provided
  3. VEHICLE: The 2021 Ford F-450 cost: 40,500. (see all options that were selected at bottom of page) So far, $9000 in payments have been made to Ford Finance. You could pay the roughly $8000, and get it transferred over to you and then take over monthly payments to Ford of $695 per month.
  4. AWNING: The new in box 15' Dometic awning cost: $1,500 but will sell that for $800.
  5. A/C: Cruise-n-Comfort 8,000 BTU with dual fan and electric thermostat upgrade: (Normal cost: $5,354. Will take: $4900. Still in the box, never opened) Dual A/C's are set to fit in camper for 16,000 BTU cooling if going to super hot climates and wanting 2 A/C's as a backup. A Heater has multiple locations it can be installed.
  6. RVLOCK: These digital locks are installed. One is in the side main entrance door and two are on the rear doors. Total cost for 3: $789
  7. STEPS: Auto dual fold down steps by Kwikee: $650. Will sell for $500
  8. Structural plans and other items at no charge: All plans are completed. Total additional costs including flights, hotels, transport to oversee or visit the building of the camper is $5000 and this $5000 would not be charged. This does not include a ton of hours of time and research

  • 4x4 CONVERSION: The Ford F-450 was set to go to Chris at UjointOffroad in North Carolina to get converted to 4x4. It can take up to 38" Toyo M/T tires on Method 305 HD wheels. You could use it as a 2x4 and then convert to 4x4 at a later date if you desired. It costs about $19,000 + to convert to 4x4 depending on all the various suspension options, airhorn, tires that Chris offers, which will make that price go a few thousand higher with UjointOffroad.

Please call me at: 904-887-0809 for any questions to purchase.

Why is this posted in 2 parts, in 2 separate threads? Please combine threads and make the second part a reply inside of this thread.

Very strange way to post...

Hi, I had to break it up into 2 posts, as it would not allow this many characters in one post. How do you make a Reply in the Thread? I was not sure how to do that.

Cool build though!

But I think you may need to open up those rear wheel wells a bit ?

In Post 2 of 2, I wrote this:
  • Wheel Wells as shown in the picture were cut tight until the new buyer/owner could decide what shape he wanted cut out for the wheel wells, 1/2 circle or straight angles.

Just poking some fun.
As for the "how to make a reply in thread", you just successfully executed it twice. Instead of making a new thread, just add more info in a reply just like we're doing by having this short conversation.

PART 2 of 2

QUESTIONS ON AREAS OF CAMPER AND CONSTRUCTION
:
  • Wheel Wells as shown in the picture were cut tight until the new buyer/owner could decide what shape he wanted cut out for the wheel wells, 1/2 circle or straight angles.
  • The rear open area above the 2 swing-out doors is designed to have a fold down bedroom deck, to be able to open it and sleep out under the stars as the same thickness mattress would be attached to the inside part of this fold down door. This fold down deck can be built or it could be closed in solid so that it does not open. This is why it was left unfinished, so the new owner could decide.
  • Under deck details and storage design/options: There is a 3.5" tall "C" Channel Sill that is mounted to the underside of the floor, which sits on top of the Ford E-450 frame. There is 16" from under the floor to the bottom of the skirt. This area can be designed to hold all water, Lithium batteries and storage. (See under floor storage proposed layout picture, this can be altered how you wish, to include outside access to storage, vs inside access) The way I wished for everything under the floor was to be accessed from the inside, to eliminate theft from outside access, as this vehicle was designed to go to Central America.
  • Fun toy storage: Inside was designed to have a 102" long x 32" wide x 30" tall sofa which would hold: 10 surfboards, longboards, stand up paddle boards, inflatable Hobie kayaks. Or up to two 15' hard kayaks could fit from under the bed straight through into the sofa. Under the bed can hold a 16' Zodiac inflatable boat and 35hp outboard engine with a Hobie inflatable 14' Tandem kayak and 2 bikes. Or any other configuration you like.
  • Kitchen is a long 79" long x 40" tall x 22" deep and is designed to hold 2 Dometic 95 Dual Zone Fridge/ Freezers stacked on top of each other, so enough food for 2 families, and the dogs, or plenty of space to put all the fish that is caught and filleted. It would include a full trash plus cleaning storage behind the trash, massive deep sink with built in cutting board, convention dual cooktop, hot water tank and heater, gray water tank, Cruise-n-Comfort A/C and 5 Massive deep drawers for storage, not including the above sink cabinet storage. (all plans are designed and available)
  • Lithium: It will hold two or more Lithionics 600 Amp Hour batteries. Each battery is: 26" x 10" x 9" (1,200 amp hours total with two batteries. As mentioned, more than an Earthroamer) Access to the batteries is under the bed and under the floor, though a locked hatch, in the garage, so no one can access them from the outside.
  • Water under the floors is set to hold up to 140 gallons in stainless tanks if you want that much. Water tanks would be heated using electric UltraHeat heating pads if needed.
  • Gasoline: Factory tank: 55 gal. Additional 35 gallon transfer tank under floor. Total fuel with transfer tank: Total: 90 gallons.
  • Bumper can be made on site to hold a 16.5 WARN winch and hitch as well as a 16.5 WARN winch on the front.
  • Shower area: 30" wide x 21" long. Shower area is just inside of the front door
  • Toilet: Slides out into shower from under kitchen, which is where the front door area is.
  • Wall Insulation: The inside of the walls are 1" and ceramic paint and fat mat would be applied inside the cavity, as well as Aspen Aerogel Spaceloft for an extremely high R value. 3M foam tape provides the thermal barrier that would attach from the aluminum glued ribs to the visible inside wall.
  • ADHESIVES: This Overland camper, in which the floors, roof and side walls were bonded together using the same Toughened Structural Acrylic Adhesives used to bond many high impact military tactical vehicles in addition to fire trucks and so much more.
    • The acrylic adhesive series was chosen for its high elongation and impact resistance.
    • By using adhesives instead of all welded connections, it allows you to build with aluminum and take advantage of that material’s many advantages (such as its lightweight, tight tolerances and natural corrosion resistance).
    • Furthermore, in addition to its high elongation and impact resistance, these adhesives offers extreme strength and is extremely durable.
    • It is Temperature resistant, performing at temperatures from -40 degrees F to +300 degrees F. (-40 degrees C to 149 degrees C).
    • Versatile, bonding to a wide range of unprepared metals.
    • Durable, providing high strength and 100 percent elongation which eliminates cracks, etc.
    • Environmentally resistant to a wide range of chemicals and weathering, including excellent resistance to indirect UV exposure.
    • Non-sag, remaining in position when applied on vertical or overhead surfaces.

TIRES MOUNTED IN THE REAR DOORS. LAST PICTURE.
  • The very last picture shows how the tires would look mounted on the rear doors of the Ford E-450 camper.
  • This picture is of my custom Isuzu NPR crew cab Camper. I am also selling this. This picture shows 37" Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I took this picture 2 months ago.
  • I will list the NPR Crew Cab camper in the next 3 weeks, as it is just being finished, and the rear bumper with 16.5 WARN winch was just installed.
  • I just wanted to attach this picture so you could grasp how the tires would look mounted on the rear doors.
  • The rear hammock chair arms (seen on the rear of the camper, to the right and left side of the porch flip down doors) are also used to lower the tires off the door onto the ground.
  • You can also see how the rear and side hammock bars lay flush against the outside camper wall on the Isuzu NPR camper. The Ford E-450 will operate and look the same.

More pictures and plans are available to the Ford E-450 buyer, and we can arrange so you can go and see the camper in person.

Please call me at: 904-887-0809 for any questions to purchase.

Would this be Erik who was working with Angry Iron Metalworks on an Isuzu build a while back? If so I ran across you at Expo West. The truck was impressive if still sort of pre-production at that point.

Hi Sir,

Yes, it is the same Erik. The Isuzu NPR Crew Cap now has a 15' finished camper on it and it is being sold. I will list pictures and all detail on it later this year.

This other Ford E-450 is one I was working on and it too is being sold.

Thank you for speaking with me at Overland Expo West. I am sure we had a great conversation. Feel free to contact me if you wish on any questions, etc.

Very respectfully,
Erik

If you happen to think of it, let me know when you post up the Isuzu NPR for sale. It was quite an ambitious build.
Do I remember correctly that you are an extremely tall guy, with a correspondingly tall build height? Seven foot interior height or nearly, if my memory serves...

Hi KillerB. Yes, I am tall, 6'-4". Here is a video of the truck: Yes Sir, I will post a lot of pictures. It came out incredible. Inside dimensions are: 7' tall, 7' Wide and 15" long.

It has a California King Bed in the Rear and in the Sleeper, both sit in a East to West direction. Roughly a 7' kitchen, 148 gallons of water from 2 stainless tanks, 2 x 16.5 WARN winches, roof top deck, Lithium, gosh, so much more. It is for sale now. I will be selling it for less than it cost me to build. You can call me if you wish anytime to: 904-887-0809
