SOLD

I am selling my expedition trail and I am asking $6,500 or best reasonable offer.

Location: North Hills, California (zip code 91343)

The trailer started life as an old WWII era jeep trailer. I kept the sides and floor of the trailer box and rebuilt everything else including a custom frame, hinged lid with gas struts, roof rack to mount a RRT and fenders.

The axel is a 5,000 lb trailer axle with electric brakes. The RTT is a Tempui Gran Sabana. It has a tongue box with a single 12 V battery (with room to add a second battery) that powers lights inside the tent. There is a 20 gallon tank for drinking water and a standard 20 gallon propane tank mounted on the tongue. There is 18” x 35” of storage space with tie downs between the water tank and tongue box to haul anything dirty you don’t want inside the trailer like fire wood.

The trailer box measures about 6’ L x 38” W x 32” H and will hold a lot of gear. The wheels on the trailer are 5 on 5 lug pattern which will also fit a Jeep JK so you have an extra spare tire if pulling with a Jeep. Tires are 35” Toyo MTs. Above the spare tire is a place to mount a high lift jack (jack not included). The tongue jack can be unpinned and mounted to the front of the trailer box while on the road to allow for more ground clearance. The rear of the trailer has sliding stabilizing legs that can be adjusted to level the trailer. The fenders run the full length of the box and provide an excellent step to reach the back of the box or an area to tie down more gear.

Included with the trailer and the tent is a Max Coupler hitch which fully articulates off-road to prevent binding between the trailer and tow rig.

When open the tent provides an upper sleeping area of about 6 foot by 8 foot with a thick foam pad. It is very comfortable for sleeping. The removable lower room has about the same foot print on the ground which provides additional sleeping area or an area to get dressed in the mornings.

Noticed your CL listing was no longer available. I like your set-up, especially the annex. My main concern is the length, have you had trouble getting back into tight 4X4 areas like Monache Meadows?

I have to apologize, I don't use this forum very much and I completely missed your responses. I thought my settings were such that I would get an email when someone sent me a message but I either missed it or don't have my account setup correctly. I know it has been a long time but I still have the trailer in my garage if you are still interested. I will watch the page more closely now that I realize I am not getting emails.

It is really close to the length of my JK but it is very nimble. I haven't had it to Monache Meadows but I saw one up there similar to mine which is what originally gave me the inspiration to build it. I just haven't been using it enough to justify the space it takes up in my garage. I have taken it to Cougar Buttes and played in the rocks by Bull Frog Trail to test it out, I did do the old Mojave trail with it, I have had it up to some of the remote camping area's in Big Bear, and have done some camping in your typical camp spots like Johnson Valley and Lake Casitas with it. I have never had any issues with maneuverability with it. You can actually jack knife it slightly beyond 90 degrees when backing which makes it easy to handle in tight areas. It's also light enough if you take some of the stuff off the tongue, you can unhitch it and maneuver it by hand fairly easily if you're on level ground. The tent has a fairly comfortable mattress in it up top. The Annex makes a great area to change and get dressed without having to do it lying down in the tent.

Which other accessories are you thinking you don't want? I have no use for the water tank or battery without the trailer. The frame was built around that size tongue box. I could use the propane bottle if you don't need one. I would really like to sell it as a package but maybe I can split it up. I'll send you a PM shortly.
