[SOLD] Somewear Satellite Communication Device

Somewear Global Hotspot sat comm device. Can be used with phone app to text, look up weather and much more. SOS button is built in and does not require phone to initiate.
I just don't use it enough to warrant keeping. I am located in San Mateo, CA and willing to ship if buyer pays shipping. Asking $250.

See website for more details:

How did you like it? Did it work as intended? I work as a sailor and frequently in zero cell coverage zones and have wondered about this for awhile.

I did like it a lot for the peace of mind when out of cell coverage. Even around the populated areas of California there are major cell dead zones so having this on me while mountain biking or camping was nice. I used it to send quick updates to family and friends, and thankfully never needed to use the SOS. Don't expect a phone like texting experience though. Yes you can type and receive messages through their app (same with Garmin inReach) but pinging off a satellite is a slow process, so while better then nothing it won't be a fast paced conversation. The speed may be directly related to how clear of a view you have to the nearest satellite so in the hull of a metal ship, forget about it. Out on the deck it might be very quick.
