Vagabond Nomad for 6.5' Bed
  • Windows: Driver and Passenger Side Frontrunner Glass Gullwing lockable Win-Doors; Front fold-down window; Rear dual-handle lockable window.
  • Power Options: Lower level and Interior Ceiling Light; 12v Power Port & Double USB
  • Additional Factory-Installed Options: Alu-cab Shadow Awning 270 degree, 14" Fantastic Fan, 1" thick rigid interior insulation, Powder-coated Shell and Lid
  • Location: Tahoe City, CA and Carson City, NV
  • Known Problems: No known issues. Exterior sides have some superficial horizontal scratches from shrubs. Interior tent material has minor black smudge marks where it contacts gas struts (this is unavoidable).
  • Price: SOLD
  • Measurements
    • Exterior edges: The portion of the shell that rests on the bedrails of my truck measure 79 7/16" in length from front to rear exterior corner; and, approximately 68 1/2" width from exterior corner to corner along the tailgate.
    • Cab clearance: From the bedrail that runs side-to-side behind the cab, to the bottom of the camper overhang, is 23 3/4" at the edge, and the interior portion of the bottom of the overhand sits slightly higher, maybe 24" in total. You may have to swap out to a hockey-puck or low-profile antenna if your sharkfin (cab roof) antenna is too tall for this.
    • Garage Clearance: From the truck bedrails to the top of the closed camper roof is about 34 1/2" in vertical height plus about 2 1/2" for the Fantastic Fan, for a total of around 36" vertical height
This has been utilized for eight summer desert trips in the Nevada / Utah area. The shell is featured on Vagabond's homepage here.

The interior, mattress pad (included), and tent portions are in exceptionally good shape and still smell factory fresh. The Alu-Cab Shadow 270-degree Awning was installed by Vagabond, and has never been used; it is like new. The exterior has no rust and no physical damage, and it looks very good; the side panels have some horizontal scratches from shrubs but none of which have compromised the powercoat (i.e., none are down to bare metal). It has performed admirably, with no water / dust intrusion issues even with very extensive dusty road usage. Both side windows open completely, for easy access to stuff inside, and can be locked from the exterior with a key (included). Note that while the sides are powder-coated black, I had Vagabond keep the roof as bare aluminum, to better reflect desert sun and heat away; this is not an option they offer anymore.

The shell is located on my truck, which spends most of its time parked in one of my two storage slots in either Tahoe City, CA or Carson City, Nevada.

I am not knowledgeable enough to make fitment recommendations, and would kindly refer such questions directly to Vagabond. This was installed by Vagabond on my 2.5 Gen Tundra QuadCab with the 6.5' bed, so obviously will fit this vehicle with no mods. Fitment on a Ram 1500 requires removing a small angle piece at the front of the camper.

Here are some additional pictures. Items such as my Tundra, rear bumper and spare tire, misc camping supplies, and other items pictured, are not included in this sale. Thank you for looking, and please PM me with questions or concerns.

Thanks! This was installed on my truck March 2020, and I am the first and only owner. After a handful of trips out with the Nomad, I'm thinking a slightly more glampy setup would work better for me and the girl, so I'd like to sell it and see how we like pulling a small camper.

If only for a 5.5ft.

Ha. Funny story -- it almost was! After many many, MANY months of waiting for the camper, Vagabond finally called me to schedule a pick-up date in late 2019, and sent me the invoice so I could square up with payment. I noticed the invoice said 5.5', and I called. I figured it was a type-o because I had been there numerous times with my truck and its 6.5' bed to check in on stuff and look at win-doors and the like! They were like "oh. Whoops. Uh, yeah, we built the wrong size, sorry -- we'll have to make you a new one." One of many frustrating delays.

Well I'd love to, but this is for a full-size truck -- in my case, a Tundra -- or is that thread a "everything Vagabond" kind of thread?

32+ months, wow! Yes, I've heard horror stories about the wait time from people interested in mine. People are willing to bail out of line and buy a used model, just so they can camp this summer. I totally get it. It's too bad, it's such a good product but the wait time leaves such a bad taste in the mouth: If I ever bought another RTT it would be from a different vendor, simply because I don't want to wait 2+ years, and because it's almost impossible to commiunicate with anybody at Vagabond unless you physically show up at the factory in Benicia, which is terrible customer service.

I'm selling my Drifter for a 5' bed of you interested.

Ah the roof! I asked the guys at Vagabond if they could just powder coat the sides and leave the top bare metal; with mostly desert camping on the agenda, it didn't make sense to have a black roof that would absorb a ton of heat. Turns out it was a huge pain in the ass for their powder coating guy, and they said they'd never do it again.

Measurements for the top part were requested, figured I'd post them here to share with others.

The 1/2" gap between between the pop-open top portion and the static lower portion is where the rubber compressable weatherproofing strip sits. It is a consistent 1/2" gap all the way around.
