Yeah that's quite nice too for strength. I'm not sure if they do this, or need to do this, on the smaller Drifter's roof.

I also think of it as a water deterrent. So water doesnt actually pool up there. Little things like that always interest me. Now i just hope mine gets built up in a timely manner....

They do it on the Drifter as well. The little details (that probably complicate their production) are what make Vagabond the best wedge campers on the market IMO. They struggle to keep up with production more than the other companies but when they do produce a camper, it is top notch.

Some updated info to answer a few questions I've been asked:

Edit: The sale fell through and the shell is back for sale.
Firstly, the shell is currently "sale pending," though neither party is bound by contact at this point. I will of course update this thread when the shell sells.

Vagabond in Benicia, CA can transfer the shell from my truck to your compatible truck for $350. I would split the cost. This entails the forklift work, new bulb seal, and any trimwork. For example, I learned that putting the shell on a Dodge Ram requires removal of a piece of nosing on the front-bottom of the shell. They charge $150 for wiring its fuseblock to your battery, I would say that expense is buyer's responsibility. Otherwise my plan to transfer the shell is to pay a forklift operator for his time, and use a few straps and 4x6s (see picture below) to do the transfer.

And a number of people are interested to know why I'm selling it. It's been a good two years, and the significant other is enamored of a warm shower + toilet she saw in a friend's camper, so we're going to upgrade to a less-rustic travel trailer and see how we like it.

Finally, here's an action shot of the shell being re-installed after I had a routine service exactly a year ago. Vagabond replaced the bulb seal, installed some reinforcements in the upper pop-top which they identified as being useful for rigidity, and replaced the rubber sweep on the bottom of the glass tailgate window.

Bump - sorry, I don't have time at the moment to find any cool pictures for a more interesting bump than this one. :(

This shell is sold! Thank you for the interest: I hope the new owner enjoys the hell out of it, I miss it already.
