Always on the lookout for a new pocket camera, I'm intrigued with the new Sony DSC-TX7. The TX7 has a couple of features not seen in many other pocket cameras:

10 mp CMOS sensor, like the DSLRs use

Zeiss glass lens, entirely internal to the camera

relatively wide lens, 25mm to 100 mm equivalent

high dynamic range mode that compensates for strong backlighting

Twilight mode takes several shots at different exposure speeds, then combines them to increase dynamic range

Sweep Panorama mode lets you hold down the shutter and move the camera to capture a wide scene in a single motion. The TX7 then selects stills captured during the sweep, and assembles a finished panorama from the stills.

extra large 3.5 inch touchscreen LCD, very sharp 921K pixels. Most camera controls are displayed on the touch screen, rather than as physical switches, buttons and dials on the camera.

burst mode captures 10 frames in one second

1920x1080 HD video (choose AVCHD or MP4 format)

HDMI output for video or photos via the included docking station

diminutive size: 3 7/8" x 2" x 3/8" 5.3 oz with battery

choice of Memory Stick or SDHC flash card

The TX7 was just released, so prices are high. I saw it on Amazon for $386. Read more about the Sony DSC-TX7 on Sony's web site here

Looks pretty nice. I have a hard time trusting something with such a physically small lens, but those features look great!
