How did the Red JK do that on that turn? How did they get it back on its wheels?

Is that the turn above the Briggs bridge?

Not sure how. bad spotting? Poor driving? It took about 10 of us to lift up the jeep and put it back on its feet. The flop happened on "chicken rock" right past the bridge. Details on my blog. link at bottom of my signature.

Possible in Stock 80

Nice write up.
I am thinking of doing the same route in 2 weeks. I have a stock 80 series (no lockers). Do you think I will have any problems?

You'll have no problems....but you should remove your running boards if you have them.
EDIT: Also make darn sure you have a good spare tire and tools to change it!

Agreed.

Probably a good idea to invest in a high lift jack at this point. (tire changing etc.)

Rolling at Chicken Rock is my nightmare. I can see how that could happen with a novice driver and too much gas at just the wrong moment. Very good that there was a happy ending, though if that JK wasn't driveable what a huge towing bill.

Thanks for the tale, very exciting.

Getting through chicken rock is a thrill. I think the key is to stay off the wall and border the trail's outside edge to reduce getting off camber, as the rock is taller closer to the wall. That JK was so close to going over the cliff when it rolled.

The driver of the Rubicon, the man who lead the recovery, offerred to tow tow the red JK down the trail. First he said he was going to back down until he could turn around because no way was he going to tow the car going back wards. I don't blame him.

I think I will be doing the Pleasant canyon/South Park loop real soon and am wondering if the brush has over grown the road through Pleasant canyon? My first time through was a major pin stripping event, the 2nd time through I think a club came in a clear back the brush so it was not an issue. This was a couple of years ago so thought I hopefully get an update.

Thanks,

Gary

It was not as thick as my first time through it back in 08. It has been cleared. Do expect some pin stripping however, as there are some narrow sections thick with brush that you cannot avoid.

Thanks for the update. Sounds about normal.

Nice pics dudes!

We were just in that area couple of weeks back and had the pleasure of running into the gents who build the brigg's bridge. They've been taking care of the two cabins and maintaining the bridge for many, many years. Nice fellas.

We hit snow storm when we ascended pleasant canyon but luckily the cabin was available to us. It would've been rather uncomfortable with the winds howling and the snow flying that night.
