Pretty amazing that the Soviet Union was better at cartography than the western powers. Given the details indicated in the article, finding these online and importing into a mapping platform would be a huge win for travelers in areas that aren't currently well supported using current mapping technology. In looking at some of the resources provided in the article, there might be highly detailed maps of Africa, South America, Asia and everywhere. Really fascinating read as well..

com'on they were better? just cuase someone made off with a bunch of their military maps doesn't really mean anything. after all we never get to see our military maps and our satellite images stop way before what's available to the military. in this day an age do I really want to be in possession of these maps. might have to answer a lot of questions. highdesertranger
