spare tire shaped water storage?

I built a fold down spare carrier so now I have room for stuff underneath. has anyone seen a water tank that is shaped maybe with a hole in the middle so it could be cranked up and stored in place of the spare? 95 4runner. my calcs figure that the space of a 31-10.50 could hold about 40 gallons. my spare is 65 pounds, 40 gallons of water would be over 200 pounds. that might be a problem.

thanks

40 gallons is a LOT of spare water...

Here's a tire-shaped tank. Seems to be intended for diesel/vegetable oil fuels, although the site notes (per Google translate, "All fuel tanks are also gasoline, E85 ethanol and similar fuels suitable". It oughta work with water were one so inclined. See the last item on the page.

That could be a very interesting option for a lot of people looking for an auxiliary tank. I could easily imagine one of these under the bed of my Tacoma where the spare normally fits...

At one point AEV was selling a spare-tire shaped (sort of) fuel can for Wranglers. It might give you some additional ideas. 40 gallons is a LOT of spare water...

Scott introduced it here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/65725-AEV-10-Gallon-Fuel-Tank

I initially thought that the OP meant a container which fitted into the empty centre space of spare tyres, like the excellent BMW Spare Wheel Fuel Can.

Any suitably sized LPG tank should be okay.

Thats pretty neat! Yes, i want to fill the space under the truck where the spare tire used to ride. Spare is on back of truck now.

After thinking about this more, its probably going to be more in the range of 15-20 gallons. 20gal is @ 166#. Thats alot of weight. But it does diminish as the trip goes.

Thats a good point. If I'm ever in an area that gets that cold its definitely something to keep in mind. Thanks!

Any local fab shop can build you an aluminum tank, shaped like a donut, since you want to reel it up and down like the factory spare wheel. Since you're near Houston, contact Joe Hellmann in Richmond, he might be able to help. He's a hell of a fabricator. http://www.hellmannperformance.com/
