I got it from eBay seller True Blue Parts, item# 251839946859 paid $59.99 total including shipping. That's the best price i could find for authentic tool, not some cheap imitations. By the way that blue painters tape is just for my piece of mind, tool itself is not broken.

If you get a puff of smoke out the exhaust, you probably need your valve seals replaced. Parts are like 50 bucks, and you'll need a special tool ~75-100 online... and it takes several hours to get the job done, but it isn't expensive or difficult to DIY.

Thank you for the video on that. If it is my valve seals... I would need to replace the intake and exhaust side correct. he only showed doing one side then he pulled out the rope. would you not want to leave the rope in place and do the exhaust one at the same time? I'm not sure I'm brave enough to tackle it if need be, but maybe.... :/

I did not.

We got home and one of our cats was injured. He is an inside outside cat. Not my choice, but he won't use a litter box indoors, so he goes out during the day. Every night he comes in. We are working on a cat patio for him so he can go outside in the enclosure instead of going outside for real. It will be safer. Anyway someone dropped a unneutered male off in the neighborhood and it got in a fight with our male. Ours is fixed, but that does not stop the fight. I thought I got the fight broke up in time, but apparently he still got bit. His face was so swollen last night, so we knew we had to take him to the 24 hour vet.

We got the rest of the pets fed, ate dinner quick and took him on to the vet. On the way the sky fell. It was torrential rain for about 2 hours straight. Had a nice power failure. Then a nice heavy rain the rest of the evening till about 12:30. Walking out to the car at 1am it was only misting, but by then I was to exhausted to fuss with it. So there was just no time yesterday. Tonight we are supposed to have a clear schedule. So I will do the idle test tonight. I will video it for good measure!

If you are not getting smoke, probably not valve seals.. But yes, you want to do intake and exhaust on each cylinder

Video of the idle test from this AM. See if this is normal "smoke" or condensation for sitting still at traffic light then moving...
Overcast, assumed high humidity (been having evening torrential rains) High 60s low 70s temp. Truck had been at idle for 5 minutes. Plan to do better tests when the weather allows after work. Longer idle time and actual take offs from a stop.

Any more definitive conditions I should create to help make it clearer? Maybe try again on a less humid day on the weekend in warm conditions after being out and about running a few errands? Saturday I'm going to go on a less early morning drive about 15 mile one way. Maybe I can give it another test then...

My guy is bringing over 4 new tires for the civic, so hoping to have them put on Saturday. Then we can drive it instead and put some down time into figuring out the Sport.

valve seal are not a major issue, so who cares if your truck smokes. I have it on my sport and nobody is tailgating me

What kind of oil consumption is seen with failing valve seals? That was what had me worried, was how much I seemed to be loosing. Since August 15th driving 60 miles 5 times a week and some local errand driving on the weekend... I have used about 2 quarts...

But I did see the oil pan was leaking... new time sert (literally)... so this should not be leaking... I also found a leak above the alternator... looked like it was coming from the timing cover area... pass cam seal that was replaced with timing belt.

Good news on that front. Shop has the truck due to the crank pulley issue

The timing belt tensioner seems to be wearing thru the timing cover. Improper install during the water pump replacement. Shop is going to make it right. I told him to check everything back there. If there is a leak at any seal behind that cover, I want it fixed since he has to tear in there anyway. He can verify for sure if my "friend" really did anything except reinstall the bolt...

actually come to think about it, check your steering pump it could also leak and look like oil
