SPOT II Recall

I guess I'm no longer ticked off that I never got the spot-II upgrade offer that was mentioned quite a while back (this is probably why).

I'll just hang onto the ver. 1 unit for now. I do wish for something with full text messages available in the near future though.
Supposidly the #2 was supposed to have improved signaling?? I've noticed mine does not work when in cloudy/stormy and in the tracking mode.

What if an emergency occurs in inclement weather??:Wow1:

Sent in our recalled Spot 2 on Jan 22, 2010. Just got our replacement today. It came via USPS in a pretty generic envelope. It's nice that they transferred the old ESN # to the new unit.

REI officially has them in the stores and online now. Seems like they have plenty of stock so I'm guessing inventory of the "updated" models is pretty good now.

I received my new unit about a week ago. :victory:

I called, and they said they sent the new one out on the 11th, should have it any day now.

So, I called again. For whatever reason, my unit got returned to SPOT even though they had a valid address. So, they're sending it out again, but gave me a tracking number at least.

So, I finally recieved my unit back. That took a while, but not too bad.

I noticed that the covers on the Help and 911 button don't really fit very tightly or securely. Seems worse than the original unit I had. Anybody else notice this? Basically, they don't snap into the recesses very well.

Mine's fine... my original box came with duplicates too... maybe try your spares?
