I'm not surprised to see that the Sprinter conversion was shown in Iceland.
Iceland is the world center for conversion of street vehicles into monster
4x4s for use on mud and snow.
See this web site for more examples of extreme 4x4, Icelandic style.

In 2007, a British group financed the conversion of an Ford Econoline
van to 6x6 with huge tires. Read the expedition report here

The company that did the work is Icecool, owned by Gunnar Egilsson.
Gunnar drove the 6x6 van from Buenos Aires to Punta Arenas, Chile for
shipping to Antarctica. That's about 1500 miles over all sorts of bad
roads. So this van is more than a specialized snow machine!

Another Icelandic company that builds trucks for use on the
frozen white stuff is Arctic trucks. They are building support vehicles for
a cross-country ski adventure race to the South Pole this December.
