SR fender flare removal?

Hello!

Quick question that I can't seem to find an answer to. How are the fender flares attached on the SR's? If you were to take them off, will there be lots of empty holes like 3rd gens?

My family had an LS back in the day and I liked the clean, simple lines.

Thanks for the help

I think the OP was referring to the gen 2 SR, they have a lot more holes from the flares, plus the paint will likely be less faded under the flares. I personally wouldn't do it, part of the appeal of the SR is having the flares to cover the tires and keep mud where is belongs.

Try downloading the FSM (factory svc. manual) from mitsubishilinks.com and it should show all the attachment points for you.

Oaky, thank you for the help. Maybe AllData will show it too?

Yesterday I found a 96 SR for sale locally and couldn't tell how they were attached. I think it's time for some more space than my extra cab toyota pickup has to offer, not sure what I'll end up with yet.

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
Yeah there are rectangular holes, much like when you take the fender flares off a tacoma. you can nutzert the holes and install some stainless allen head bolts to make it look clean and rugged. The holes in the doors under the cladding are this way too.

You could just find used LS fenders on car-part.com and swap them in...

That won't fix the doors or the rear fenders.

Those fender flare do provide a lot of protection for the truck even though they are plastic.

You could paint them and the lower trim with bed liner or plasti dip and they will blend in. The plasti dip you can remove if you don't like.

You may like the looks.

He could also get the doors off an LS, but your right about the rear.

Alternatively you could just remove them all and take it to a body shop and have the holes filled and the panels repainted if you're really that serious about not liking them.

Worst case scenario is to buy a doner LS and possibly swap bodies/fenders with your SR... but that's crazy talk now IMHO.
