Stanley Thermos Warranty *review*

I had different results with Stanley Thermos Warranty last year. My small thermos also did not seem to stay warm enough so I called Stanley and was on hold for a minute or so, told the girl my issue and she asked which model thermos I had and then asked what color I wanted, A week later I had a new thermos. I took the old one and put a neoprene sleeve over it and it keeps it warm for hours.
I think the problem with mine was its the smaller thermos so the contents cooled down quicker because my monster large thermos keeps coffee warm all day and into the night. I now have 3 Stanley Thermos's and doubt I'd buy anything else.

The newer thermos's are indeed lighter. In fact the one I bought a couple years ago had a sticker on it saying "new lighter design" or something similar. I remember being skeptical. Why would anybody need a lighter thermos?? Could they just not lift the old ones?? After I bought it, I was looking at the bottom for some reason and saw it was made in China. I can't tell you how crushed I was. I should have known I guess, but it just never occured to me to look. A Stanley Steel, made in China. F%&$ ME! Some things are just wrong on the face of it. It really doesn't matter to me whether it works, or how good the warrantee is. What I want is the old original AMERICAN MADE Stanley Steel that my dad carried, my grandpa carried, and every uncle carried. Some had steel handles held on with big hose clamps. Most had decals of one thing or another so when they stood with a dozen other guy's thermos's they could find theirs. That's what I want mine to look like in 20 years.

Like everyone else I have a ton of stuff made in China. Most of it is pretty good. I have Chinese friends. I like Chinese food. Somewhere a line has to be drawn.

I do not want apple pie baked in China. I do not want an American flag made in China, and I do not want a Stanley Steel Thermos made in China. Not everything can be reduced to a cost / benefit equation. Do the people at Stanley just not get that??

Please excuse the rant ...................................:wings::elkgrin:

My motherinlaw has a Stanley thermos probably 10-15 years old and it no longer kept things hot. She knew it had a life time warranty and drove me mad to chase it up. Anyway Googled Stanley sent them an email, I'm in Australia they are in the US. A few days latter I received and email to say the claim was processed and could I contact their Australian office, they gave the email address. I contacted the address and received a reply advising me to mail the old thermos to them and they would on forward the replacement. I wrote back and thanked the lady and asked where they were, as it turns out they were in the area of my travels. I was supposed to call the about 3 weeks ago but due to sickness I was unable to make it. Anyway today I went there to be told Melissa was away, oh. Thinking I would have to come back, the front desk lady said how could I help you and I advised her of what was going on and she promptly said I can do that for you. Away she went and returned a few minutes latter with a new thermos and was told if I had any problems to come straight back. So all I can say is my experience with Stanley has been an absolute joy, not a moments fuss or frustration and would highly recommend them. Plus as my motherinlaw keeps telling me there is only one thermos to buy because they last a lifetime and she is 90. STANLEY

Stanley - Made in the USA?!?!

Just source a good 'ole Made in the USA Stanley thermos on eBay! You will find some nice ones, some never used and many that come with the original packaging and may be even cheaper than the Chinese stuff....

might try this.

I have gone thru a couple of these. The lid is usually what breaks before the thermos as a whole fails

Hi Frank

I am glad you received your thermoses, and sorry you still feel this way. I'd still like to put you in contact with our Customer Service manager. As a company we are going through some big changes and our customers are very important to us, we are only here because of our loyal customers. We like to hear from everyone, good or bad, so we can figure out what is going wrong and improve on it. I personally depend on my stanley gear when I am out hiking so I understand how irritating it can be when you like to depend on something, it fails, and ends up being the biggest pain in the butt at the end of the day.

If you can give me a ring, we'd still like to talk to you and get your opinions on what would make things work better and easier.

Sincerely,
Julie

Julie, I think it is wonderful that YOU and your company monitor your customers issues and discussions. I Have a Stanley Themos that is well over 20 years old. You can't imagine the advantures that it has been through. After all, isn't that what it is about anyway.

Good job Julie.
