Steel Pass in DV Passable in a Full Size...?

Hey all- Just wondering how many of you have taken your full-size Chevy, GMC, Ram or Ford full size pickups through Steel Pass in Death Valley. I did it years ago in a brand new, bone stock (down to the pizza cutter factory tires) Tacoma 4x single cab without any issues or with a spotter... This week, I'm going to try it with my 2013 GMC 2500HD Extended cab with a 6.5 ' bed... I'll have some recovery boards for some of the "drops", but wondering if any of you have done it without issues...? Thanks!

I did it with Hummer H1, in 2020, peace of cake,
But that road is destroyed now and closed after flush flood.

I have done, chicken corner, eco canyon and Steel pass.

Length is more of a problem than the width in those narrow twisted corners.

OK... Just drove in the driveway at home- North Pass was no problem whatsoever... A 2WD truck with LT rated tires could do it without any problem- Airing down is critical due to washboard conditions and sharp rocks. Takes about 2 1/4 hrs.... South Pass (Saline Valley) is doable, but REALLY rough and rocky- It would take you 5 hours at least from what the Camp Host said...You would have to access from the Panamint Springs side as the Olancha side of 190 is CLOSED.
Steel Pass was CLOSED as the Park Service hired some contractors with heavy equipment... I have no idea what kind of work they are doing(?) Perhaps they are going to make it passable for non- 4WD vehicles, but they had serious equipment out there.

To all,

Here is a link to a site I have used for years for DVNP;

Looks like the work is done and it's open...

It's time to travel. Be safe, not scared.

We were in Saline 2 weeks ago and watched the big bulldozer go up Steel Pass to re-establish the road through the wash, by all accounts it is an easy drive at the moment.

We did it in a Ram long bed on 37's and a Prospector XL which is on 40's a few years back. Just a small kiss on the bumper and we slipped through.
