Still looking for a way to increase height of Helinox Cot One

I have version 1, which can't be converted to use the leg extensions. Bed risers were suggested here. I tried those and found them unstable. CVC pipe suggestion seemed too labor intensive for my skills.

Is there any type of foam, styrofoam, or other LIGHT, RIGID material that could be cut in a simple rectangle 5" x 6" x 24", 3 pieces total, to put under the legs? This piece would required notches to hold the legs securely.

OR: I could also use just TWO pieces, going the length of the cot rather than across. These pieces would be 5' long.

I'm going on a long trip soon that will require two different cot heights: one for kayak camping in a small tent, and one for car camping in a larger tent. I'm hoping to not have to take two different cots (Camptime Roll-a-Cot).

Any more creative, simple ideas?

Well, the simple idea is to take the lowest common denominator, the small cot, since it works in both tents. A hack like the foam you're describing is gonna be bulky and probably not too stable.

Dunno about your other equipment, and what the need is here, but I'd see if there's anything else you'd have anyway you could just put under the cot for extra height, like Rubbermaid containers, rocket boxes, etc etc.

I ended up taking two tents, two cots, two mattresses and it was a drag! Way too much gear to pack and manage. I would really like to take a 3P rather than 4P tent, if I could just solve this cot problem. Reason why I need a higher cot: age; hip replacement. The Helinox Cot One is 6"; if I could add another 6" that would be great.

PlacidWaters - have you considered pushing the legs of the cot through these canoe car carrier foam blocks? You could use the shorter blocks and place two along each leg (in total). Or try 3 longer ones like these from Malone. The channel in the foam should help provide support for the cot legs. They are very light in weight. And would help protect the tent floor.

Thanks Mike. I actually did consider this because I have a pair of those blocks on hand. Unfortunately the foam depresses too easily.

EUREKA! I think I found a possible solution.

I don't really want to cut down the legs of my existing 15" Roll-a-Cot because there are times that I want to have a tall cot. But what if I buy a replacement set and cut it down to, say, 10" to 12"? Would have to experiment to figure out the highest cot that still leaves tolerable headroom in a 3P tent.

So I would have two possible heights with the same cot. Not an ideal solution because the Helinox Cot One is so much lighter and easier to assemble.

I need two different heights. A low cot for a 2P tent for kayak camping, and a higher cot for a 3P or 4P for car camping. Anyway I'm morally opposed to spending $400 on a cot.
