What are you using for storage in the back of your JK Unlimited?

I use Rubbermaid action packers for just about everything ranging in size from the 8 gal to the 48 gal size. The 48 gal version at just over 43" looks like a perfect fit in the back with plenty of room between it and the tail gate.

Anyone using one have any issues other than the sub woofer is in the way by about an 1", but that is going to be pulled out soon any way.

I'm using my old wood footlocker that I had in the army. Works ok, not my ideal choice but not really ready to shell out 4-500 bucks for the tuffy drawer yet.

Know what you mean about the tuffy box, have one in the scrambler and love it in there. But if you need something that you can put in/ pull out fast and easy for extra room or put something larger in they are not so great. I added loops to the top of mine for tie downs and make it easier to use the engine hoist to take it in and out. It is heavy.

We have a Jeep JK 2DR and there is no room behind the back seat, even when the seat is flipped up, the seat takes up room. So we decided to take out the back seat and add a rack, cargo pole and HD rubber mat. I went down to a company in the area that sells pick up truck bed mats. I asked what they wanted for the mat and they said $70.00 :Wow1:, so I asked if they had a defective mat? They said in fact they did, it was a new mat with one damaged corner.... How much? $30.00 :wings: They cut off the bad part, I took it home trimmed it up, it turned out great! Now we are using 2 storage boxes that sit side by side on the rack and a dog carrier & two storage boxes on the floor.

Works for us! :sombrero:

Metcalf Posted: What is the width of the rear door/tailgate opening on a JK?

At floor level its right at 41" wide. If you wanted to slide a 41" box into the back of the jeep, you would have to take out or move to a new location the subwoofer.
The subwoofer is about 5.5" wide.

I was hoping somebody else would ask, but what is your source for the plastic rack shown in your pic, YouAndI??

Where else can you put the sub woofer? That takes up a lot of space.
They should have put it on top of fender well.

For reference for people....few more measurements...

-What is the length of the floor to the back of the seats? 2 and 4dr.

-How far from the floor to the top of the wheel well?

-How far from the floor to the top of the body tub?

Bennyhana is correct Bestop is the manufacturer of the inside rack, I purchased it from Quadratec. It was an easy install.

Ditch the darn thing ! got rid of mine and can't tell any audio difference for the type of music I listen too (and I like opera LOUD!) Without it it seems the trunk space in a JK is twice as big......and it comes out in about 3 minutes, 4 bolts.
