im havng a problem with storage, the way i see it i have three options but i will get to these in a min.
right now i have a T style home made bed high wing fenders and a large rectangle for storage on an 84 toyota pickup reg cab, now the measurements for the space are 2'4"w X 1' Tall X 6' long. by my calk thats 12cf of space to store things, i would like to use rubbermaid containers for storage, they seal fairly well at least to keep things dry, they are cheap and i can seperate different bins for different things, i would not like to go above the 1' high mark because i plan on having a sort of tanneu (sp) cover to keep out dust and critters.
here comes another delema, if i do that where can i put the cooler or fridge, it will be inside the bed so out of the elements for the most part but i still need tools and supplies like clothes, camping gear, kitchen stuff, chairs, usual things.
now here are my options.
1. make a kind of covered wagon like a can back or something
2. make the wings 7-8in higher on the outside them make the tanneau cover to cover the whole thing so it would be about at window level.
3. scrap my bed, and get a real factory bed (problem 4 the previous owner chopped the frame, it was a long bed, now i dont know what it is, i suspect that a short bed will fit, howwever the wheel well opening may be in the wrong spot.)
4. extend the sides up to window level and make a kind of truck box on either side for parts and other things, thus increasing the rectangle depth and cover the center part.
5. buy a new truck after college. (but thats no fun)
heres what it almost looks like now.
