The Earthcruiser story will be played out again and again over the next few years. Their business models, like much of our economy, aren’t sustainable.

We have all certainly seen the instance where a wealthy individual buys an expensive rig because they thought it looked cool and has little to no experience in the outdoors/overlanding and I shake my head with disdain for them the same way I do for the people driving around in their regular pickup like they are in a truck commercial leaving toilet paper behind everywhere they go.
I think pretty much everyone has more disdain for the later than the former. And I love seeing anyone respectfully appreciating the great outdoors in whatever rig they like to use... so long as they aren't buzzing around my camp in a ************** SxS...

The TP thing is kinda weird. Maybe people just don't know what to do... or just don't care. I do poop in a hole in the ground 99% of the time, and I use TP and I don't take it home with me. I wad it into little balls in use, and then I burn it. It takes awhile and some fire tending, and the smell of burning poop in the morning may not be everyone's favorite odor... but I don't mind. Keep it going until the smoking stops and all the TP is ash, and cover it with dirt.

The covid economy based on a $7T free money infusion certainly wasn't sustainable. But that isn't why EC quit.

Interesting because their own press release says they were closing due to “changing market dynamics and economic challenges”. Translated from marketing speak to plain English - orders weren’t coming in and we ran out of money.

I didn't see any declaration of bankruptcy... just shutting down... directly after a 3-year massive boom in sales.

This is definitely a more challenging "bust period", but we all knew it was coming... and a well established and experienced company like EC who benefited from the boom, would be expected to weather it easily... *if* they wanted to stay in business. Otherwise, this is the perfect exit point.

They could have various good reasons for wanting to quit. Like... being burnt out from the last 3 years, in which they likely made $$$, and ready for retirement. And they'd have a tough time selling the business now when sales are down and warranty claims are surely up. Along with the difficulties of a replacement chassis for the cab-forward platform, and the Terranova and Evado not being well established.

They went bankrupt. I know this because they were a customer of my business and we are receiving the emails on which law office to contact.

It is a real shame, Lance at EC was always very supportive of us.

I "think" I saw one of these today. In Colorado on 285 going east between Buena Vista and Fairplay. It was a big camper on a big pickup type truck; said "Storyteller" across the front of the camper nose. It did not seem to be the same as the pics on the website, but i was going west so did not get a good look.
Here is a production unit
