Stripping brown church roof rack

I tried grinding it off and it just melts and clogs up my grinding wheel. Tried jasco stripper and it did not even penetrate the coating. I have several rusty areas so plan on stripping the entire thing.

mine is galvanised, so I'm guessing you mean the black plastic stuff - mey need to acid bath it?

Trying to do it on the cheap. Acid bath did cross my mind. Mine has a lot of rust.

If it has a plastic coating try using a hot air gun...outside with a fan!

Blast it. Probably best to take it to a powdercoating shop, they can blast it quick and cheap.

It is outside and I do own a hot air gun. Not a bad idea. I am thinking blasting would be very difficult as the coding is pretty thick.

Scoring the plastic and using the heat gun is working pretty good. Will post pics in a few.

Try aircraft paint remover. It pretty much strips anything.

Stripped it down heating the coating

Necessary to wire wheel and hammer off the built up rust under that worthless coating. Painted with POR 15.

And reinstalled it today!

Nice work. Not sure if you know this but POR15 is not UV stable. If you don't top coat it with some other paint, it will turn gray and chalky.

This. I have been HIGHLY unimpressed with POR-15 overall and especially it's lack of UV resistance. Better topcoat with something good...

And it will happen *fast*. Don't delay in topcoating it.
