Summit Sport Seats?

Not specific to those exact seats, but the large side/lumbar bolsters are going to pretty much lock you into one position.

I suffer from back pain as well. If you are looking for back pain relief, I'd keep looking.

This is a shameless plug as PRP was our seat sponsor for our race Jeep, but take a look at their daily driver seats. I have been very happy with the standard PRP seats that I put in my rock Jeep long before they were a sponsor.

They also have a recliner version. I'd consider other seat manufacturers as well, Corbeau, Mastercraft, etc before I'd go with a generic look-a-like seat, yes they are more expensive, but when you consider the hours upon hours you spend in your seats, it's $$$ well spent IMO.

Summit is sorta the Walmart of auto parts... ...I'd test fit that seat first.
There's a big Summit around here. Stumpy and I went there one time and we needed gps to find our way out.

As for back pain, read/watch the links that I posted in this thread starting with post #90. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/93759-Best-Off-Road-shoe/page9
My back pain is pretty much gone, my hips haven't dislocated in weeks, and my knees don't hurt anymore.
It wasn't me. It was the shoes.

But my back and shoulders still hurt if I drive my wife's FIAT for too long. In that thing it's the reach to the steering wheel that kills me.

Thanks, I will follow up and watch/read. I do know it's the Taco's seats. My lower back was constant for so long, it helped me make my decision to change careers and stop carrying cameras all day. When I started dd the Land Cruiser the pain went away. Last weekend, we took the Taco for 3 day camping/driving trip and my back hurt all week... back in the LC and after the muscle relaxed, pain is all gone!

Taco seats are back killers! I was interested in these Summit seats as well since they are so cheap. I mentioned them to a friend who said his brother bought them for his Camaro and hated them. Said they were cheap quality and the seams didn't last a year in a weekend car that spent most of it's time in the garage. I started looking at other options and am probably going to go with the Scion xB seats. I had a '10 Scion xB company car for about 6 months. I spent all day in that car, traveling across Texas, and it was very comfortable. I hated the fact that I was in a girl car, but I was very surprised with the comfort it provided on those long road trips and local runs.

I found a set of Scion seats in. Junkyard, but the modifications were too much. I just bought a set of 02 4Runner seats. 3 of 4 holes lined up.... I plan to clean then and mount this week

I ordered a pair of these last year for my g-body build. Never took them off the UPS truck, the packaging was trashed and the seats torn. The thin cardboard was shredded far worse than UPS could possibly have done from Summit to me, I think Summit shipped them in crappy torn boxes. The seats themselves looked okay, the fabric/vinyl had a nice feel to it, quite leather like, foam was not too firm or too soft, just poor packaging that looked like it was pushed across the continent.

Take a look at Corbeau also, I recently installed Baja XRS seats in my van (Expo thread) and previously had the GTS II seats in my old van. I traveled on many long distance journeys with the GTS II and were very comfortable and supportive and affordable, a good overall experience. The only thing that comes to mind is that I would have preferred an extendable leg rest for my long legs like my old original equipment Recaro seats, but not in the budget for the van.

In choosing new seats, I narrowed my choices to the Baja XRS or Sport Seat in vinyl as I didn't want to climb over the taller lower side bolster of the GTS II and also preferred a slightly wider seat to have a bit more wiggle room this time around. The vinyl option was just a durability, ease of cleaning and longevity choice over cloth. I wasn't really into the boy racer looks so much with the Baja XRS but I liked some of the features and dimensions compared to the GTS II and Sport Seat. Seat heaters are an option, which I plan to install sometime as is inflatable lumbar support and can be purchased with those options pre-installed.

For installation, the height of the GTS II seats with Corbeau adapter brackets on stock seat bases was just a bit too tall for my preference but the Baja XRS have multiple threaded mounting options so was able to mount without using adapter brackets (re-drilled seat bases) and I'm pretty satisfied with the height of the Baja XRS.

I ordered both sets from apexperformance.net because they are just nice people to deal with. If you don't see the seat on their site, email Linda for a quote, they are drop shipped from Corbeau with free shipping.
