I liked my H3, picked it up in May o5 (it was a very early build) and drove straight to Moab, then Silverton / Ouray in August. It was very capable and comfortable.

Do you still have yours?

no I had to sell mine, finances got a little too tight with the rising fuel prices

I will get another one eventually though: 2009-10 white w/adventure. That's my dream H3

Just got back from our annual trip to the San Juan’s. It was a great month, lots of wheeling, hiking, snow and friends.

On the way:

I little trail above the tracks in Silverton Co

Downtown Silverton:

Just a little snow on at the summit of Ophir Summit July 1st 2011.

This was taken just before the top of Engineer Pass looking back toward Mineral Point.

The kids passed there deep water swim test at the awesome Ouray Hot Springs Pool

Looking for GOLD!

This Marmot was VERY bold. He would not leave my Jeep alone and we ended up leaving. Be carful, they like to chew on vehicle wiring.

Colorado Columbine

A little trail damage on our friends Jeep…. Left front axle U Joint. Thanks to the great folks at the Conoco in Silverton we were up and running in no time.

Our kids are getting older so doing our 2011 trip we had opportunity to do more hiking than in the past. We made a quick hike up to Fort Peabody off Imogene and to the top of Hurricane Peak. We did a few other quick hikes but the one that was the most fun was up to the “antique store” (actually a black smith shop) across from Hwy 550 right by Bear Creek Falls. Because we have kids from 5 to 11 the hike took about 5 hours.
Hurricane Peak looking toward California Pass

The Jeeps and my dog on the snow (she’s white so you can see her without a full size pic)… The crazy little thing went out snow and then ran back to the Jeeps on the snow, I was worried, it’s a long way down but she was fine.

One last shot from Hurricane.

View of Bear Creek Falls and Hwy 550 from the trail to the antique store.

We ran in to a mountain lion just after this little pond, no issue but it was within 10’, my gut tells me it had a den nearby and wanted us to move away. Sorry to time for pic’s.

The store.

The sound of music.

Up at the Imogene lookout

between Tomboy and Imogene summit.

Because of the late snow most of the streams were running deeper than normal. This is my friend Jeep on 33” tires.

This is on Red Mountain, the trail had washed out a bit…

Don’t tell anyone, I am a BAD dad and am teaching my 11 year old to drive.

The 4th of July is a great time to be in Ouray. Festivities all day topped off by the Jeep parade and then great fireworks. We avoid the traffic after the fireworks by going night wheeling.

Gasp. Nobody told me about a mountain lion when I walked by the same pond on July 13th. Had to make a 4-pic composite in order to squeeze all that scenery in.

I took that picture at 11:54am on 07-14-11. The lion was in the trees just past that pond on the way up and on the way back. In fact, when we came back we found tracks in the mud where it had folowed us up the trail. It is a fun little hike and very pretty. As for mountain lions and bears, they are everywhere so we just stay in a big group, talk, laugh and keep our eyes open.

Great pics, thanks a bunch for bring us all along.

When I was at a trail head in Olympic Natl. Park I had to repeatedly shoo a marmot away from the engine bay of a tour bus. He was a slave to that wiring insulation!
