I found it during my Garmin Colorado 400t GPS search. This application is an Expedition dream tool!!! Just not Mac compatible yet, but I did send them an email...:violent-smiley-031:

I am also looking closely at a Garmin Colorado 400t which is one of the few units this will work on, for the moment. It also works with Pocket PCs.

I don't quite follow. I have a general understanding of what they're trying to do, and have fond memories of Zork, but I'm not clear on objectives and what distinguishes this from geocaching. Nevertheless, as a GPS enthusiast, and since it is from Groundspeak, my interest is piqued.

The real advantage, to me that is, lies in the fact that I can research a new destination and upload info related to specific locations. For instance, if I were to go to Machu Picchu, I could upload highlights, notes, options, general info etc. to the WHEREIGO website and then upload it to my GPS. Once I am on the trip, my locations will trigger the data I entered for that specific area. I could see tour companies using this for a trip through Washington DC, for example. "Now that you are standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial, you will notice..." kinda things. As their data base grows, you will be able to pick things like GRAND CANYON and have a ton of useful, on the fly, location relevant info.

If you were to take a trip to Yellowstone, you could chart the trip, make notes, give advice etc. Then you upload that info to WHEREIGO's web site. Then I can download your trip into my GPS.

I think in someone like Scott's hands, this could be a HUGE advantage for a wanna be explorer, like me! :jumping:

dude my delorme does that. its in the programming and i can link it to google earth. but i have to have internet to have that work. BUT i can take a google earth snapsot and use it as refrence, since its kinda topo.

I just sent off some emails with questions to the site folks about development...
I really think this could be a huge thing for Disabled Explorers..the idea of ghost town related history, pictures, interactive stuff that would help lead you on a weekend tour of some of our arizona areas would be too cool.
Or running something like the Camino del Diablo and as you pass Tule Wells or Tinajas Altas having historical references, music, info and stuff pop up would be great. I think it would be a nice motivational tool & guide to encourage folks to enjoy the outdoors.
Yeah you are making things easy by the person not having to do their own research but if you have ever been on a trip with a person who really knows an area you know how much better that experience is...
The real kicker will be if they can get this to work on devices other than PPC & Garmin Colorados.
