Supplies For a One Night Camping Trip

I frequently go camping with friends of mine, but we just go for one night.

Keep in mind, were all 16-18 so were not super hardcore. But we dont leave our trash and leave the spot in better condition then we found it in.

I was just wondering what you all would bring along? Im trying to think of things to add to my collection of camping/offroad gear.

I sleep with my friend in the back of his DC Taco, or in a tent. We dont usually cook much as we leave town in the early evening and get up there in a hour or 2 depending on where we go, and the we usually leave by noon since people have to get back to go to work. We bring food you dont have to make though.

I usually bring:

Backpack:
- Pillow
- Sweatshirt or fleece jacket and coat shell
- Gerber 3.0 LED flashlight (extra batteries)
- Garmin Meridian Gold GPS (I like to map out our camping spots) (extra batteries)
- Gerber Gator Knife
- Brunton Titanium silverware set (christmas present to myself :D )
- iPod (gotta have tunes to hook the the trucks stereo!) (charger)
- 12v to 120v, 150watt power inverter (works great for iPod, phones, laptops)

"My Offroad Tub":
- 30ft. x 3" recovery strap
- Reciever shackle
- 2 extra shackles
- 15ft. tow strap
- Jumper cables
- 100MPH tape
- Rope
- 12v, 100W spotlight
- Bunch of other stuff that has gotten thron in over the last 2 years.

I also bring:
- Clothes for the weather (warm clothes in winter, cool clothes in summer with some sweats in case it gets cold at night)
- Mummy sleeping bag (I doubt I will buy another bag for a long time!)
- Axe

Im probably forgetting things too.

Im always the most prepared one there, as no one else really goes outdoors as much as me. LOL

So what do you guys think I should add to my list?

I think I posted this before, but if not, here ye goooo
Not all applies to you of course, but it might give you some things you might forget. I know without this list, I'd be lost when it came time to pack. We have two dogs as well.

The yellow highlighted items are consumables and need to be checked before we head out. The bins mentioned are the medium sized Rubbermaid totes. Besides sleeping bag/pad and tent (which is being replaced by roof top tent soon) and clothes the two bins hold the bulk of the important little things that make camping easier.

you milage may vary

Thanks for that statement. Back in the day when I was a kid we camped almost every weekend it seemed and my dad would always have me and my brothers clean the campsite before we left, picking up anything we might have left and everything people before us had left. Your quote is almost exactly what he used to say. :campfire:

On the list, it's hard to say, it depends on how much gear you own. My list grows every time I buy more gear. Some things you're overlooking are: the cooking gear, water, some tarps, cooler, food and sodas.

I guess I probably should have added what everybody else brings:
- Tents
- Coolers with beverages
- A flat or 2 of bottled water
- Snack food
- Their own personal items

I guess Im mainly looking for things that Im not thinking of to add to my personal list of gear. Not necessarily stuff for the entire group. I also really have the itch to buy some cool gear! :D

Thanks

Im seriously thinking about the disco ball. Get one, not tell anybody, take it on our next trip and pull it out. That would be awesome.

I have a thing where I save all of my change, and when my piggy bank (yes I have one, haha) fills up I use the money to buy some type of useful gear. So I decided to get an ARB Adventure Light! Should be able to go pick one up this weekend!

Those lights are pretty nice. I don't have one myself, but have had a chance to play with one. Decent light.

Well I got my adventure light! 4Wheel Parts in Portland had one and the guy sold it to me for $35. Im pretty happy since everywhere I looked online was about $41 to $50 plus shipping.
